He was based partially on Clint Eastwood, and many of the depictions from the book illustrations and comics reflect that.

That's my issue with Roland's looks. I think rant might fly in different mediums, i.e. books or comics, but then on film, then he's hair a generic Eastwood homage.

Roland starts out looking like Eastwood and then somehow starts morphing to look more like Stephen King as the series progresses.

Yeah visually, Roland is pretty generic "Western cowboy gunslinger."

I like Idris's costume for Roland even though it does remind me of his outfit from Ghost Rider.

Well I'm pretty sure that said outfit from GR had at least a little inspiration from Westerns anyway (his character there certainly seemed to).

Good God, scrap this film altogether and just give me a Jae Lee-inspired animated series. That artwork is glorious.

The key thing about this world is that, it's beeping weird. If they water that down, like with John Carter (which should've had a more pulpier vibe and look) then it's doomed!

Yep. "Watered-down" is a great way to sum up John Carter's problems. Well, that and the fact that Taylor Kitsch SUCKED in the lead role.

/waits for someone to appear and tell me why John Carter was a misunderstood masterpiece because FILM CRITIC HULK liked it, as if that means dick.
