I really like the first half of the film . The second half was decent but I never seemed to mind because I liked the casting . Tim Curry really shined as Pennywise. So the remake will be more faithful to the book but hopefully they can make it as creepy. Something about the 50's is more scary to me though becuase it seemed like it would be alot easier to go missing.

Mr Repetez si vous plait, allahi allah wah rahmatullah... Peace be upon rasool

look in all honest, this film is about Shetan, the devil... so they need not make this film to glorify clowns as Shetan...

Ummm.... what?

And what's with all the double posting?

Hmm...I guess this would explain this picture I saw yesterday...:o

Tim Curry as Pennywise is probably one of the scariest things ever committed to film. It'll be a real task to top it.

This intrigues me though, loved the book even though it scared the **** out of me when i was younger.

I've never read the book, but when I was little, my babysitter used to show me all kinds of horror films and this was definitely one of my favorites. Only saw it once though, because my mother hates clowns and refuses to have it in her house.

Can't wait for this one though!

My ideal cast....

Pennywise the Dancing Clown: Paul Giamatti
Bill Denbrough: Peter Krause
Ben Hanscom: Edward Norton
Beverly Marsh: Ashley Judd (unsure)
Mike Hanlon: Don Cheadle
Richie Tozier: Jeremy Piven (still unsure)
Eddie Kaspbrak: Jeremy Davies
Stanley Uris: Undecided (he really doesnt do enough as an adult for me to find someone good to play him)
Henry Bowers: Josh Brolin (still kind of unsure)

The younger versions of the characters would most likely be played by unknowns.

So.... any progress here?

Pennywise - Steve Carell

Only have an idea for two more:

Richie Tozier - Bruce Campbell

Bev Marsh - Amy Adams

Otherwise, the above cast looks pretty good, especially Ben Hanscom and Mike Hanlon.

Dammit, this cant fade into obscurity and get shelved! With the right screenplay, director and cast, this could be glorious. :csad:

uh dude bruce campbell is far past the expiration date on that role lol. He was an adult in 80s...

Is this still on?

There was a bit missing from the tv films and many of the effects don't look as good. But Pennywise The Dancing Clown was seriously the only time I have ever been genuinely afraid of a clown. Tim Curry was brilliant and I can't imagine anyone doing a better Pennywise than him. And the scenes where he goes into creepy-scary mode! I saw a Pennywise puppet once and it scared the **** out of me.

Anyway this remake has a lot of potential...But it needs to be a duology not a single film. The book was OVER one thousand pages!!! No way can that possibly be condensed into a single movie. It either needs to be a small set of films or a mini series.

Agreed. That goes for The Stand too, should it ever be adapted again (and it should be).

It's gonna be so hard for me to push the TV series cast out of my head, because it was a great cast. I hope the movie kicks ass.

The cast was the BEST thing from the miniseries, no question.
The original also sets a great atmosphere, even if so much from the book was left out. But no miniseries much less a movie can do justice to the actual book. How would we ever portray IT's own point of view on film? And like others said, there is so much that would not fly on screen, and thus the attempt to properly convey this story will diminish it.

I hope the movie will be a worthy adaptation of one my favorite stories, looking forward to how it turns out, but I would much rather have a new miniseries in say, HBO or something.

How about Andy Serkis for Pennywise?
Great actor, even sort of looks like Tim Curry.

I still think they should treat the kid portion of the original movie, & then just make the adult portion again. Cause for me the kid version was fine. The adult version was horrible. The actors were just atrocious. Which is weird because they all were find in other films.
