Fantasy Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz to return for new ‘Mummy’ film

I don't think a 56 year old Brendan Fraser needs the physique of playing a superhero character. Just getting into good shape will sell the idea he really is an adventurer who is fit enough to "work" in that universe but if he looks like Chris Hemsworth's Thor you are asking yourself when he finds time to do pushups.

With Radio Silence behind this I'm thinking this will probably lean on the horror elements more than any other movie in the series did.
It’s one of the reasons i’m so excited they are attached to direct this. I love how the first movie leaned hard into the horror elements and i was disappointed that the sequels completely lost that. I loved scream 5 and really enjoyed scream 6, and i have no doubt that radio silence will be able to bring back that perfect mix of horror/comedy/romance/adventure. So pumped for this.

The first movie had such a lightning in a bottle perfect tone to it. The mummy stuff was mostly treated as horror and you had scenes with the scarabs or someone lost in the pyramid (before getting killed by the mummy) that were intense and well done. But the 'Indiana Jones' stuff was treated more like a light hearted adventure and Brendan Fraser was great. You look at something more modern like Chris Pratt as Star Lord and I see a lot of Rick O'Connell in that. (though one could argue both have Harrison Ford to thank)

You just know Radio Silence is going to find a way to blow someone up, PG-13 rating be damned.
Simple, give the undead characters black “blood” and in one scene someone strategically places a lit explosive on one of them and they blow up and cover our characters and the surrounding area in viscera.

If Predator: Badlands can get a PG-13 for killing/harming various alien creatures and robots, then so can this.

Changing blood color is always the key.

I think Star Trek VI was warned they would get a PG-13/R so they changed the Klingon blood to pink and voila, PG!

Or that first Resident Evil trailer where all the zombies were covered in blue lol

Hated the third movie and recasting of Rachel Weisz, so not sure what to make of this. I feel like they waited too long. And in the third movie they cast like a 30-year-old dude to play their son, which was ridiculous. She was only like 37-38 at the time.

I never saw the third movie but I have heard some say it's better than the 2nd in more recent times. (Mostly because Alex is incredibly annoying and really drags that 2nd movie down, also Scorpion King lol)

What a coincidence that the cult needs Imhotep happen to have a member who looks like his dead girlfriend.

I always enjoy looking at the cast list of these older movies because it's like a time capsule. As a kid I remember seeing Arnold Vosloo not just in the Mummy but he was also in Hard Target (the Van Damme vehicle) and those Dark Man sequels. I remember Oded Fehr had a stint on Charmed (which I watched A LOT as a kid) and I believe he played Carlos in the Resident Evil movies.

At the time as a kid I probably thought these guys were A-calibre just showing up in all these movies/shows I happened to see and now you look at it with completely different eyes and you also see that there hasn't been a lot... great in recent times.

I don't NEED either of them to be back but I would be happy to see Imhotep back as he's such a great face. But you could do something different with Imhotep IF you were to bring him back - like have him be a chaotic neutral or something. They tried doing something like that in the 2nd movie by adding Scorpion King as "the real threat" but that felt very brushed aside in the last 5 minutes and Imhotep was basically the main through the whole film anyways.
