Well the reasoning behind Alan Scott is simple. We've already explored the territory of Clark's interaction with younger superheroes.

Alan Scott is a war veteran and a living relic of an era past. Hes a mentor figure who could educate Clark about a secret organization from decades ago called the J.S.A [Justice Society of America]. It no longer exists, most of the members are long dead save for a few who havent aged much thanks to their powers like Alan Scott and Jay Garrick.

Basically its about Clark being inspired by other heroes and gaining the knowledge of a previous organization for superheroes that once existed. This in turn will help influence him to organize the JLA someday. This could also help influence him to think about becoming a formal superhero himself someday.

That's what my thoughts were. . . . .

Simple things like this are why I hated the character of AoV so much.

You've got to also consider that alot of film and television audiences arent as smart as you either. They may get confused.

So basically.. they're catering to the lowest common denominator..

I dunno.. I think that if nothing else, the release of SR at the same time as SV could serve as a lesson that it can be done.

On one level, I can understand the desire to not have world's collide, but.. on the other hand, it does annoy me a bit that they don't give viewers credit for being able to understand and accept co-existing entities that are unique.

I think everyone across the board is glad that SV and SR were kept separate, so why wouldn't the same apply to WW or Batman?

Not to open yet another can-o-worms on this issue, but perhaps we're looking at it from the wrong POV. Maybe it's not a matter of confusing the two. Maybe it's a matter of dilution and preference. If you offer an audience more options from which to choose, viewers might grow attached to one and become indifferent to others, which translates to potential lost business for the latter properties.

I can see something like that happening, minor though it may be. If I were a studio spending major coin on entertainment, it might be a concern. I dunno.

Mmm... I think it's more like landing a ball on the 17th hole at Sawgrass. Everybody thinks they can do it. Slice a shot however, and before you can say "Tiger Woods," your ball's in the water, to the delight of the crowd.

You know, it's funny how we all get along even when our views differ, but there are those that shall remain nameless that seem to feel that we gang up on them when they have different views.

Pat said, I believe, that maybe Clark's learning to fly shouldn't ever be a one shot episode like Whisper or X-Ray and I agree. Maybe TPTB do too...

He will have to struggle to control it and it probably won't be easy... could be a great arc for the season.

I don't want to get my hopes up, I'm just dreaming really, but what if its something that profound?

Could happen, but I gues we'll see.

I had thought about this, and I think they should have Clark spend most of a season out and about.

Then move him to Metropolis for the home stretch of the final season.

Yup that has made me laugh, sometimes their locations are off.

No matter where in the world they are in the show, it always looks like Canada. Plus the fact that on several occations, we can see the mountains..clear as day...in the backround of "Kansas."
