Steven Spielberg's "Ready Player One"

I believe Spielberg still has at least one great blockbuster left in him.

I really want Ready Player One to deliver.

No John William score :(

This is literally the one thing I wanted William to score for Spielberg.

Williams is 85 years old and he's not a spring chicken anymore. Plus he's off doing concerts whenever he's not working.

He and Spielberg both decided that Silvestri would be perfect for Ready Player One, since Spielberg produced Back to the Future and familiar with the scores he did for other Amblin and DreamWorks films.

Post-production for both films at the same time also played a factor.

Williams is doing The Papers instead.

Hmm. I was expecting Thomas Newman to reteam with Señor Spielbergo for that one.

I didn't even know this thread existed, this is great.

Anyway, WB is brining RPO to Comic-Con. With big movies like Justice League, a bit of art and info could be all they have prepared because people will still find that good enough, but I think this means the first trailer for this movie.
It would be a waste of a panel without it.

Considering Williams's age Ill be happy if he gets to finish doing the music for the new Star Wars trilogy. We are damn fortunate that he is still working at all.

I'd rather William score this than "The Papers" movie.

This, even if it's a little morbid to say. I'm thankful we still have Williams and he's still working pretty regularly at his age. He returned to Star Wars and still did a pretty bang up job on Force Awakens.

Also, Silvestri is a great composer and he deserves a lot more credit and respect. The dude composed one of Marvel's best themes for The Avengers, plus the music for the likes of Predator, Back to the Future films, and more.

This image is Wade’s “hideout,” an old van where the orphaned boy stores his most treasured belongings. In Ernest Cline’s 2011 book, this is where the character goes to be alone, since he shares his aunt’s teetering trailer in the impoverished, Jenga-like “Stacks” with 15 other people.

There’s extreme wealth in the world, but most people don’t have it. The only escape from this miserable existence is through the virtual reality simulation created by James Halliday (Oscar-winner Mark Rylance), who has recently shuffled off this mortal coil – but left behind a final game for his millions of users: Whoever solves his series of pop-culture quests wins the OASIS, along with its parent company, Gregarious Games.

This digital getaway will be locked away – or at least become prohibitively expensive – if it ends up being taken over by the corporate IOI organization.

So Wade and some of this fellow treasure-seekers are in a race with the rest of the world to protect it, uncovering clues in a game that will decide ownership of this innerspace.

Parzival’s closest friends and allies are people he’s never met in real life: Art3mis (Olivia Cooke), Aech (Lena Waithe), and I-R0k (T.J. Miller) – while their greatest foe in this quest is Nolan Sorrento (Rogue One’s Ben Mendelsohn), who is IOI’s murderous chief of Oology.

Are we sure that's not from X-Men?

I'm trying to see if there are any little easter eggs in that shot.

Some of the papers on the left give you an idea of what Halliday will look like.

I really wonder how they're going to do the finale of the movie

GIMME MECHAGODZILLA VS ULTRAMAN OR GIVE ME DEATH

Spielberg won't ground anything in reality or cheap out as far as accuracy, I feel confident we'll get the full monty, to use an outdated adage.

So is Sheridan typecast as characters wearing visors now?

It'd be hilarious if he got cast as a rebooted Geordi.
