Sci-Fi Steven Spielberg's UFO Film (2026)

Why is everything I love being delayed. :csad:

My favourite director making a return to sci-fi is enough for me. Regardless of concept & narrative.

This movie should be about aliens crashing on an island and then a billionaire turns the island into Extraterrestrial Park. :)

I was hoping this would be more of a horror movie, but Colman Domingo's comments make me think it'll be closer in spirit to E.T. or Close Encounters.

I get it, but if there’s ever a time for a more positive heartwarming science-fiction story, it’s now.
Not just because of the state of the world, but people seem to refute the very concept of sincere emotions in movies.

Lots of stuff in the mainstream is either been put though this ironic, self aware meta-y blender, or it's about angry and vengeful people.

Spielberg's been back, it's the audience that needs to come back because they're a bunch of uncultured swines who don't go see his movies in theaters anymore. :o

I know it’s not everybody’s cup of tea but I mean, his last true blockbuster still made over 600M worldwide. And that was 2018. So people still go see his stuff, but seemingly only his big stuff.

Unfortunately, his dramas are under-seen with the occasional Lincoln that reaches his blockbuster heights .

West Side Story crying in the corner.

Yeah his blockbusters still do good business but I was mainly talking about West Side Story and The Fabelmans. Two of his best films since the '90s and they both flopped. I know West Side Story was certainly intended to be a big holiday hit but 2021 was still a post-Covid mess at the box office.

Yeah, Fabelmans unfortunately was probably never going to hit no matter how good it is.

West Side Story should’ve been a breakout, but musicals are such a tricky thing. That year In The Heights also tanked. But then a Wicked comes out and does gangbusters.

Wicked had that popularity advantage where it appealed to both fans of the show and also casuals like me who hadn't seen the show but were curious to see what all the fuss was about.
