Stop making Final Fantasy games.

Why? XII turned out to be really good. VII was great, VIII was great, IX was fair. X was good although Tidus was whiney, the battle system was fun and it had some great characters (Auron and Kihmari). And lets not forget, the best game of the series, Tactics. This past decade of Final Fantasys hasn't been too shabby.
It sounds like the guy has played too many of the spinoffs which are admittedly crap. The core line of FFs have maintained very high standards over a large number of games.

Agreed. I can think of no other series whose core line of games have produced so many quality sequels.

I can't believe this thread. FF is not the most repetitive console rpg out there. Zelda wins that title by miles.

And FFX wasn't the worst. Oh no. Final Fantasy 8 was a big giant waste of time with the most backwards story ever done. Oh and the words coming out of the character's mouths in 8 blew chunks.

"I'm going to use the love of my friends to travel back in time." Yea, nothing said in FFX can beat that awefullness.

In FF8's defense, it was rushed due to the sucess of FF7. There was an interview of the main dude that said that as much as he didn't want to, they skipped for the most part the 'major storyline' to get it out before something or other so they could capitalize off it.

Fact: The OP is wrong.

His opening post would much better describe something like MegaMan. I'm sorry, the series that outsells Halo worldwide all the time doesn't survive on a hardcore fanbase.

Damnit, I knew there was another game that had more games than FF in the core lineup.

not really. MegaMan has only 8 games in its core lineup. Its main spinoff Mega Man X also has 8. It may have more games total when taking the core series and all its spinoffs, but FF has more games in the core series

Outselling Halo isn't THAT much of an accomplishment. As I've been touting for a while, Nintendogs was able to do just that. And so have a lot of other games. A true measure of ludacrative success is if you're able to outsell SMB or SMB3.

The Legend of Zelda. It's only the best series of all time short of perhaps Super Mario.

We need to examine a game series that simply won't die, that my friends is Final Fantasy. It's been begging to be euthanized for years now, greedy bastards have been making these forever simply because their die hard fan boys will buy anything with the FF title in it. Hell, they even tried to make a shoot um up one called Dirge of Cerberus, needless to say it sucked. The only reason they've allowed this series to live so long is because their greedy. If you continue to buy these games you're part of the problem.
I remember I bought FF7 for the sole reason that everyone kept saying quite possible the greatest game ever and I was like WTF is wrong with these people???!!! The most dumbest part was that you had to wait 30 seconds to attack someone:rolleyes: Please! From that point on, I hated RPG in general.

Everyone talks about remaking FFVII, I personally would rather see a proper FFVIII.

Aren't they ****ing out FF7 enough without a remake? I mean I liked that one but it's had movies, spinoffs, appearances in Kingdom Hearts, etc.

I would exchange all those countless spinoffs for a badass FFVII remake.

Remakes should be made for things that ended up making a mess. They're supposed to improve on wasted potential. Unfortunately,it has become a marketing ploy for people who can't think of anything original. Other than improved graphics, what can they honestly do with a FF7 remake? One for VIII is enough.

Why make a remake of a game that was a mess? Who would buy that?

Id welcome a remake of VII bc I never played it. Thats one reason why remakes are made; to introduce new fans to a game/series.

Even being a little rushed, Final Fantasy VIII is not that bad. For me, it was one of the best of the Playstation era Final Fantasies.

At least to me it was the most enjoyable of them, followed by Final Fantasy IX. VII is just plain overrated in my opinion.

Final Fantasy X was just plain silly. It's summon system was stupid, plus the main character was Luke Skywalker whiney.

There shouldn't be any spinoffs. They never get the same level of effort put in as the (majority of) games from the core series get.

Since FFX (and not due to it), FF's reputation seems to have suffered (X2 has a lot to answer for) but XII and XIII should get it back to where it's supposed to be. Any comparisons with Zelda prove that this thread is missing the point. Any game that is held in a similar regard (or even inferior but within the same league) to one of the all time best should keep making games for as long as they can maintain standards. NO Bloody spinoffs :cmad:

I consider VII as one of my all time favorites. Not as good as Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross but it's up there. VIII was good as well, nice love story and everything but I hated the GF system, it loses the uniqueness of the character where the only difference between them are the limit breaks.

But lately I just lost interest of the franchise ever since IX, in fact I just lost interest with Square completely ever since they merged with Enix. Don't know why though, Enix did make some good games every now and then.

Damn straight. I'd welcome updates of both games. Although I'd keep the battle systems (except the DRAW technique. ARRRRG!).

Theres uh, some kind of FFVII thing for PS3 comming out sometime in the future. But I can't speak japenese so I don't know wtf it is.
