I don't think that Lobo will necessarily take on the role that Tom King originally intended for the comic in the movie.
I’ll go further and say I’m pretty confident he won’t play that role since that’s ultimately the role he gave Kara, and to change that now would fundamentally change the entire conceit of the story and make the Ruthye character superfluous.

Lena Luthor is fundamentally uninteresting and superfluous as a character in comics and in the Supergirl show. Not a fan. She brings nothing to the table that couldn’t be done better with another character. Lionel is the only other interesting Luthor besides multiverse ones
I like how New 52 depicted Lena as Lex’s Achilles heel, the only person he loves and truly listens to.

Depends on where Peacemaker Season 2 ends, but they could lean into a ARGUS/Cadmus vs. superheroes storyline for this Superman/Supergirl (plus the Justice Gang and Peacemaker) crossover, saving Brainiac as the Big Bad in the DCU’s full Justice League movie.

Viola Davis’s big return could be as this sequel’s central antagonist, leading the government against Superman, Supergirl, and the heroes. And maybe that’s why the character’s series keeps getting stalled…

You could give Waller her own metahuman team with Captain Atom, Major Force, Metallo, Engineer, Sasha Bordeaux, etc— whoever really (and we know Gunn likes the Silver Age characters). Waller further plots against the heroes using tech recovered from LuthorCorp after Lex’s arrest. That tech, originally stolen from the Fortress in Superman, would be revealed to have contained a fragment of Brainiac—Krypton’s engine of technological warfare, previously dormant in its isolation in the Arctic—that eventually connects to the outside network and evolves into a threat requiring the formation of the Justice League.

Now, Justice League will still be able to pick up the story threads of Clark’s personal arc introduced in Superman. And, who knows, maybe the JL need Luthor’s help in that film to stop Brainiac (further testing Clark’s limits as Superman) which leads to a full pardon & Luthor eyeing the Oval Office…

Then the DCU is really off to the races

Legion of Doom needs to be the eventual DCU big bad. I want the government, Argus, Checkmate, Overwatch, ect involved in the creation of the Legion. Give me a house of babel movie. A dream come true for me.

Agreed completely

I think you could do a really fantastic Legion of Doom centric film inspired by things like Tower of Babel, Justice League Doom, Justice, and the Injustice For All episodes of JL.

The Snyderverse introduced so many villains that could’ve been on the team, but they dropped the ball with nearly all of them.

Give me Vandal Savage, Ra’s Al Ghul, Lex, Braniac, Grodd, Reverse Flash, Killer Frost, Cerci, Cheetah, Sinestro, Ivy, Bane, and Slade Wilson.

Don't forget Scarecrow! They should go the Darth Vader route with him too. Cast a really tall, lanky, imposing guy in the suit and then get someone with a really creepy voice for the V.O. We don't really need to see his face.

Clayface too. Can’t believe I left out the one villian that will get a solo movie.

Now as I think about it, Scarecrow would probably be the best horror movie villain. Almost like a Freddy Kruger type. That toxin he has is no joke. That is one creepy son of a gun.

Yeah I’m still opposed to saving Brainiac for a JL movie unless the NEXT movie is the JL movie. We’ve waiting wayyyy too long to see this villain in a Superman film. If they want to make him the “big bad” of the DCU that’s fine, but he’s a Superman villain first. And if Superman and Supergirl are the main characters in this film, that works even better because he has deep ties to both. The Justice Gang and the DP crew can fit well in the story too. Everyone at the DP played a role in Superman: Brainiac, and other heroes (and Lobo) had roles in House of Brainiac so Gunn could use both of yhose books as inspiration.

It's time to bring Brainiac to the big screen. I loved Nicholas Hoult in the new Superman; I do believe he was the standout in that movie, but I was disappointed we got Lex Luthor as the main villain again. Just like Joker, they overused that character.

I think it was for the best to start with a lower stakes story, I feel like Brainiac would have felt too much of a rehash of Zod.

And unlike Joker, Lex had never been done properly on a movie until now, so as far as I'm concerned, Nicholas is the first big screen Lex.

I feel the same, but I would've preferred if the villain was John Corben/Metallo or Rudy Jones/Parasite, two villains with tragic stories, whose powers delve into body horror (one of Gunn's specialties)

Idk, I liked most of the Lexes we got on screen, even Eisenberg, I found the Lex Zuckerberg proposition interesting. But Kevin Spacey is still my favorite after Nicholas Hoult of course.

Although Superman was the best Superman movie since 78, I would’ve preferred Bizarro or Parasite in addition to Lex. I think that’s my biggest complaint - Ultraman could’ve been either of those easily with some small rewrites

I think Ultraman may evolve into Bizarro now that he's in that cubist pocket-reality. That may become the DCU's Bizarro World
