The movie has had a really good hold in Italy (the overall weekend drop compared to OW was -36%). Let's see how fast it'll manage to crack €4M. Fantastic Four opens on Wednesday.

Heard that it recouped a nice sum in the UK after a weaker OW , too.

The movie's having a very solid hold in many international countries. I'm posting Italy for example, and this week's monday is just -38% from last week's.

Positive WOM is working, the movie is well received, and it's not crashing abruptly in its 2nd week like the Snyder movies.

Everything else is just dumb noise.

It's quite funny that Snyder fanboys and haters of the "wokeness" of Superman are crying because the greatest american hero hasn't been a success in China. I see a great contradiction

Yeah, agreed. It’s holding fine. I’m don’t know how anyone can look at this as anything but a success unless they’re believing what they want to.

Yeah for real. I hope F4 is huge and I don’t mind if it beats Superman’s total when all is said and done. I want both movies (and universes) to thrive. It bodes well for the genre as a whole.

The studios can no longer just throw some tights and capes on actors, call it a CB film, and expect people to just show up.

My wife and I plan on seeing it next week, as soon as we have a day off together.

I am telling you guys it was great for the Summer box office to have Jurassic Rebirth, Superman, and Fantastic Four to all come out in the same month. We even got the sleeper, F1 to do well at the box office. Good times at the theaters again. Theater chains don’t want one movie dominating the box office. I think Supergirl and Spider-Man are coming out within a month of each other as well next year so maybe it can happen again. 1.5 billion divided up between 3 movie companies instead of one making all the cash.

It's a success, and more importantly, it didn't cause a big divide like mos/Snyder did.

It's different times. We have arrived at exactly to the point where classic is back in style. Superman is the perfect Superman movie for today (and hopefully beyond).

Consuming a lot of interviews and content of prior studio heads and creative, nobody at DC/WB ever wanted to touch a classic Superman film. It's why almost every iteration that were failed productions like Superman Lives, Superman Flyby, and JL:Mortal were greenlit at one point. Flyby turning into Superman Returns in '06 was even a safe play going back to the coattails of the Donnerverse. Every single creative head at the studio during those times mentioned they wanted nothing to do with a classic take on the character (in comic book realm terms).

Fast forward to now, the genre has been reset. When you bring in a director like Snyder, it's going to be a specific direction and take. The studio needs to own how Zack is exactly the type of director they wanted to take on Superman. They didn't want to go the classic route. In 2025, when you hire a James Gunn? Same theory. You get what you pay for and what the audience is now paying for, is a classic take. It's refreshing to see givin the last 7 years of slop and no direction from DC on film. Superman is now where he needs to be
