Hopefully it comes up short. If this movie can make 400M then 400M has ceased to be special.
POTC2 really was the first negatively reviewed movie to get into the 400M club. But by comparison with TF2, POTC2 was a masterpice according to critics. Eh, only the 500M and up club remains untainted.

This are of course estimates
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen P/DW $805,000 $400,437,000
Not really that surprising to be honest. I think everyone knew this was gonna make good money whether it was the pile of **** that I think it is or whether it was a cinematic tour de force.
so people must like only the same type movies? This begs the obvious question; If you don't need to put out excellent quality to make mega-bucks then why bother with all the extra effort that requires?
Well, someone's still working hard on the movie, even if it lacks in character development and story. The CG people certainly need to put in extra effort for a movie like Transformers vs. any Tarantino movie. This begs the obvious question; If you don't need to put out excellent quality to make mega-bucks then why bother with all the extra effort that requires?
people like both. they like entertaining movies like TF2 and they also like big inteligent movies like TDK. people also liked district 9 that had action an fantastic characters and a fantastic story.
its just BS. people still like both.
I'm actually suprised it's not going to gross as much as POTC2 with that huge opening.

Most of this industry is obsessed with the domestic box office results, but we can't forget that overseas box office results are just as important as well. While we don't normally care about box office numbers, this was just too shocking. As of this moment, Titanic is the #1 overseas box office earner, at $1.24 billion, followed by Return of the King at $742 million. This week, the #3 spot, currently held by Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, will be overtaken by one of this year's releases. What is it? Not what you think. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs has passed $657.5 million at the overseas box office. Are you kidding me?!
