Superman Beyond Rants About Fairtax (yes, again :dry:) and Uses Asteroid Metaphor

Do we Destroy the Asteroid?

  • Do everything in our Power to Take out the Problem!

  • It's Not My Problem. Let the Next Generation Take Care of it!

The nukes would be crude, but wouldn't be the wisest. Instead of dealing with one object to track, you'd then have thousands of objects to track. Any object that is more than 35 meters across wouldn't burn up in the atmosphere, so then there could be several impacts.

There are other alternatives, such as sending a spacecraft to collide with the asteroid thereby deflecting it (kinetic impact), or using a "gravitational tractor" (essentially a spacecraft's thrusters) to push it away via gravitation.

You don't think the nukes would change the trajectory enough of an asteroid 30 years away?

There's no guarantee that the nuke would vaporize the asteroid, which would be the primary point of launching a nuke at it.

While that makes for an interesting Hollywood blockbuster, it's not the best solution

Actually, I was just hoping to change the trajectory.

WOW, Wall Crawler is the only one that understands what the Thread is about. This is NOTHING to do with Asteroids. That has to do with Impending Doom in the Form of our National Debt, and how we need to fix the problem now, instead of waiting until later.

The Asteroid thing is a Metaphor.

Wow. Just, wow.

Dude- LOOK AT THE TITLE OF THE FORUM. You never mentioned taxes once. You created a forum on asteroids hitting Earth. Lol. Of course people are going to get confused and talk about what they came here for- asteroids.

People should be alerted,if they are not around to face it..then their children or grandchildren will,and that is not good.

If something can actually hit us out of SPACE, that's frikin' awesome. :o

Ahhh earth gets hit EVERY DAY by objects from outer space......hello the thing is they burn up in our atmosphere because they are to small.

I'll probably be senile . I'll probably be sitting alone on a rocking chair laughing at the wall for no reason when it happens. Tell my grandkids i love em'

I'm still waiting for something big in 2012, planet X.

Planet X?

pshaw.

Duck Dodgers has already taken care of it

Sounds like another thing in order to scare people again. How many times have said meteors/asteroids the size of Texas were promised to hit Earth and never come close to doing so?

****, if they announced it now that the earth will be destroyed in 2040, oil companies would take advantage now and charge even more for gas. *****es!

You overguesstimated this board's intelligence. :csad:

Yea, I see those dozen mile wide things burning up in the atmosphere all the time. :huh:

I've got a butterfly net from the last person who tried to capture me if you want to lend it :)

Actually it's earlier than that, I believe, dude.

2028: It's going to pass Earth's orbit

7 years later it's going to hit us (2035!!!!) if we're not able to push it away in time.

It's not longer a "if", it's a definite- only thing we need to hope for now is that they're satelite plan (push it out of the way) works- or we're all dead.

Or it could just burn up in our atmosphere.

/\ Actually it's going to hit that whole, scientists already have it calculated. It will hit, they're working on a satellite thingy to try to save us though that they've been working on for a long time already. Watched a whole documentary on this.

And don't actually need to "imagine" since a meteor is EXPECTED in REALITY to hit in 2035. So there's no imagining here... that would be like 'imagine we're in a war against terrorists and what will you do win someone wins that war?' there's no imagining, it's only a question of what will you do when it will- and it will- happen...

But, as I said they've been working on a solution for a long time, so hopefully they'll be able to hit it off course.

Do you have anything at all to back up these crazy claims you are making? You keep saying "scientists say," and "its a fact!" Who are these scientists?

After reading through three pages of bickering over the title, I've gone ahead and changed it to avoid confusion :up:

Since I don't make more than $200K, I'm going to let the asteroid do us in.

http://www.factcheck.org/taxes/unspinning_the_fairtax.html

Agreed. I'm having a LOT of trouble trusting something that Huckabee supports. The "Fair"tax is a manipulative evil lie.

Factcheck.org said:
If the FairTax exactly equaled embedded taxes, then it could not possibly be revenue-neutral, since embedded taxes do not take into account personal income or estate taxes. The FairTax rate would have to be high enough to replace embedded taxes plus income and estate taxes
.

What seems to be missing from Faketax supporters is the fact that the magic number they use, 23% is only inclusive. Exclusive tax, under "Fair"tax could be as high as 40%...

...39.3 percent exclusive rate would be necessary for revenue neutrality.

Also, other taxable items:

The list would include:

* Purchases of new homes
* Rent
* Interest on credit cards, mortgages and car loans
* Doctor bills
* Utilities
* Gasoline (30 percent in addition to current taxes, which would not be repealed)
* Legal fees

Again, Huckabee supports it so I'm wary as hell from that Evil's Agent, um Evangelist!

This thread is just simply funny after I decided to read it again. SupermanBeyond starts a thread about an asteroid striking earth disguised as an infomerical for fairtax. Instead of discussing fairtax, we turn the tables on him, ignore that discussion and instead talk about the asteroid.
