Superman Reboot Writers Workshop

..but you can't have a realistic Superman. That's taking all the fun away from it. Who's he gonna fight? Pety thieves?

Brainiac. They could do it in a Star Trek (scifi) way. As long as there's a logical science behind it and it isn't completely fantasy.

I guess the right word would be hyper-reality.

Lex, Intergang, Edge and others would be great TDK-like crime villians on the side.

Sorry, I hit the keyboard and it posted the damn thread before I could finish writing most of it. If any mods could alter the title, I'd appreciate it.

Toyman would be amazing as a side villian like Gamble in TDK.

Prankster would be too close to Joker.

This is exactly what I've been saying all along.

Superman is a science fiction character.... he needs to be handled that way.

NOT fantasy .. .but speculative fiction (an alternate name for Science Fiction) where you take the known and tweak it a little so that it's still sort of grounded in reality but you do a big 'what if'.

You need to have depth... big villains, small villains. You could have something akin to the Brainiac introduction in the animated series where Luthor is the hidden villain while Brainiac is the main threat.

WB can't just continue to ape Donner's film and expect a new audience to go 'Oh Wow' it's so cool. Donner's film was a fantasy and a comedy. Singer's film was a fantasy and a downer. What needs to happen is to have a film that has none of those focusses.

Seriously, though, a World's Finest would definitely be easier to put on screen than a JLA movie. For one thing, there would be only two characters to cast (I'm assuming Bale wouldn't come back), and those characters would be famous already, so there's no need to introduce a bunch of solo films first.

I don't think we're going to get WF or JLA, unfortunately, given WB's inability to get so many of its comic franchises off the ground.

yea so true i would love to see batman and superman team up in live action form. To bad that wf film from a few yrs ago fell threw.

I don't trust this idea. Spunds like combining two characters that work - in movies at least - far better on their own.

It all depends on the writer and the plot. You're telling me that if the Nolan boys took a shot at a WF movie, you wouldn't give it a view? Those guys could bring meaning and thrills to anything.

now i know the script was terrible maybe if it had a better script back then it would have worked and the right cast, i know there was plently of rumors of who the director wanted for bats/supes that were not the best.

I think a Wolverine and Spiderman film would be better. A Batman Superman film would be awsome though.

man that would be cool to bad xmen films are still under fox control for a few more yrs and spidey well we know sony isnt going to give up the rights to that puppy for a long time.

A world's finest movie would be one of my dreams come true.

Look...I honestly dont think it will happen anytime soon. The challenges of presenting Batman/Superman onscreen together interwoven with outstanding , compelling storytelling, may be too much for any hollywood director to tackle.

We are still . Decades away. Really. It's going to require writing, cinematrography, prodcution values ..that are at a level beyond that of what was put forth with tdk.

You talking about the B v S film? That film would have flopped hard... Jude Law and Collin Farrell??? Hell no to that....

See that's what I don't want ten to fifteen years from now. I don't want two big named actors just randomly stepping in there and playing those two characters in a cross over film. Until you launch a successful Superman/Batman franchises concurrently... the film would be garbage. So unless they relaunch Superman successfully in no less than three years time and unless Bale is in it... I don't want a WF film. Or a JLA film for the same reasons.

I think we're going to have to wait until a new director takes over the Batman series and introduces a more fantastical tone. It's really hard to imagine Nolan's Batman paired up with Superman, though it's not impossible. Plus, like I said, I can't see Bale agreeing to do a WF or JLA movie.

Yeah that's what I meant... since I believe the current slate of major DC superhero pictures will not fall through in the near future. Sign a new guy for Batman for a four picture deal about 4-5 years after Nolan finishes his trilogy... then do Batman 4, 5, WF, and JLA. At the same time get the other franchises going.

I think it would be awesome if Superman flew to other planets and galaxies and faced threats like Brainiac or DarkSeid and recapture the pace of the silver age comics. Superman was invincible in the comics of the 60's,70's and 80's and could fly across the galaxy and to others by flying through hyperspace or entering space warps near earth and emerging many light years away. He would fly across our own solar system in a blink of an eye and and would fly through the solar system to get his mind off things.

I think it would be worth the ticket and outsell the popcorn and drinks if the Man of Steel flew through deep interstellar space and visited distant worlds perhaps even to the remnants of his home planet Krypton with the help of a starship or spacesuit. Or even took part in massive space battles with alien fleets such as Brainac's Ship or Darksied's fleet.

I hope we see this in Mark Millar's proposed Superman trilogy hopefully starting in 2011!

:bh::boba::yay::grin::brucebat:

1) Mark Millar will be making movies, but not Superman.

2) I also want to see an intergalactic Superman, but they have decided that is what Lantern is for.

I would love to see your idea put into action. Supes is an alien, so let's see a great scifi spectacle. Here's how I think it should go: the next movie should reintroduce Superman with all the classic elements, for example, showing Supes fighting some supervillain in Metropolis. In the film after that the director can really cut loose and show Superman fighting alien armies in space, as you say. Just imagine the special effects!

I would like it to gradually grow to that. First film would be Superman versus an earthbound threat (Luthor, Metallo, Parasite, etc), then Superman versus an alien invader (Braniac), and then maybe Superman in War World or something of that nature.
