World Superman: The Ultimate Collector's Edition

Who cares if the Ultimate Edition doesn't have the STM 78 Dolby Stereo track, which is inferior to the newly enhanced version anyways.

But the Superman III blunder is a bigger one.

Sorry Super78 but you are quite mistaken about the origonal mix for STM. The 2001 mix was extremely distracting, amplifying sounds and underplaying the music & added sounds like Superman flying are just an unwelcome excuse to make a classic more "modern". I am so pleased that I will have the chance to enjoy the same soundtrack I grew up with without any embarrising tweaking. If only they would give you the same option for the expanded edition then I would be really happy!

Yeah, I want the 78 soundtrack as well. Inferior my ass.

3 Stores (Circuit City, Best Buy, Target)

ALL SOLD OUT!!!! :cmad::csad:

I overheard a lot of people asking for it at BB and the employees telling them they were sold out.

To be honest, I did not anticipate the popularity of this set AT ALL...

I mean its cool in the sense that the Superman films are in such a high demand but it sucks in the sense that I can't get mines...lol.

Yeah, BB really blew it or Warners did as far as inventory. I work there and I still didn't get one. Damn I was mad. Was just going to buy SR and S2DC, but I decided its worth the extra bucks to get more movies and more bonus material. ErrgghhHH!!!!!

^ You know what would be funny? If you had people calling your Best Buy early in the mornin' asking if you got more shipments of the Superman Ultimate Collection as opposed to PS3 and the Wii...LOL.

Wouldn't that be awesome?! :woot:

YEAH!!!! :woot:

Personally i will just be getting the Christopher Reeve Collection. No offence but im not going to pay to own a bad remake of Christopher Reeve/Richard Donner 1978 Classic.

I do not want to own Superman Returns, but WB has tricked me into doing so because the Ultimate Edition proves to be worth the buy despite the inclusion of said film due to all the extra goodies not provided in the Christopher Reeve Collection.

To amend this, I will be removing the two discs of the set assigned to Superman Returns and replacing it with gay pornography.

I feel I have to add the disclaimer that this isn't an affront to Singer's sexuality but merely a statement that, to me, a heterosexual Superman fan, Superman Returns is about as close to the Superman movie it should have been as a gay porn is.

I did seem to get about the same amount of people asking for Superman as for Wii and PS3, now that I think about it. Only thing is is when I see the Ultimate Collection come in, it's MINE!! :ghost:

Now that I actually have the set in my hands the metal case is very flimsy & bland it could have definitely used some color. Aside from the trouble with the discs that I will have to send back for the replacement discs, it is still good to own all the movies.

Holy crap, I didnt expect this set to be so hard to find. I actually thought they were all recalled last minute (because of the disk errors) and that was why I couldn't find one.... checked a zillion stores.. finally located ONE at Walmart.. just one.. and it wasnt anywhere near the Superman movie display set up in the front.. i found it with the box sets in the entertainment department... got it for a decent price too.. called the 800 number and will hopefully get my replacement disks once they get their disks made... even with the messup.. its still the best disk set I have seen in a long long time.. and I am too huge a Superman fan to pass it up... cant wait to see the Donner Cut, but I am not opening the set til I get my replacement disks.. otherwise.. im returning to Walmart and getting a refund.......:cwink:

I think they're hard to find cause they're replacing the defective discs.

I just called in and was on hold for 45 minutes and they took my information. Then they said they're going to send it to me and I'll get the discs in two to three weeks. Two to three weeks after spending 100 bucks at Border's for the only copy of the thing they had after checking Targets-which were selling it for 79.99-and they didn't have it. What a day.

Wow, why would you pay $100 when you can get it for $70 off the internet, with free shipping??

When I called the 800 number they told me that I would receive a pre-paid envelope to send the discs back within 7 to 10 business days but before getting the new replacement discs I would first have to send back the other discs, so now I have to wait on the envelope & then have to wait for the discs to get back to them & then wait no telling how long until I do actually get the replacement discs. Guess there telling everyone a different story when they call, but I would have prefered that they would have sent out the new discs first so I would have them to watch instead of sending back the discs & doing without discs for no telling how long.

I just popped Superman III in & im seriously pissed! That was one i was looking forward to seeing the behind the scenes, ive seen the other ones before except this one. I thought it was just my set but before i could post about it i saw everybody is having this problem, this is BS!

Warners said that they are working on the problem.

We would just be better off buying the single deluxe DVD of III, adding it to our set for completion in the time & cost to get a replacement disc. Thats what im doing because i dont wanna hear some story about sending in the whole set to get a replacement one, so all in all it will cost me over $100 for this set! And the movie industry wonders why there is movie pirates, you best believe this will be availible for download somewhere!

They'd better make it easy for people to get replacements, especially since it's such a massive screwup on their part. If I have to mail anything, I'll probably pass.

Of course, if you simply buy S3 individually, I don't believe the cover art will match the rest of the set. No big deal, but I'm sure that will annoy a lot of collector's.

Circuit City had it on sale for 59.50. That is where I got my copy.

heh heh. Yeah I put it in last night to maybe see if I could be disuaded to liking it a bit. But nope. I do feel bad for Routh as he got put in a bad movie.

I called the 800 number today and it was a bit difficult considering the guy I spoke with was.....well let's just say english was not his first language. I had to spell everything out slloowwwly so I HOPE he wrote everything down correctly. Even after he repeated some of my info I'm still a bit worried.

Unlike some other posts, I was asked for my name, address, phone number, the last 5 digits of the serial number (the one under the bar code), when I bought it, where I bought it, how many copies I bought and was told I'd be sent a pre-paid envelope in 7-10 days and that as soon as they got the disc (I'm only sending in the "Superman III" DVD as the sound issue on the first one doesn't bother me in the slightest) my replacement would be sent out but I was not given a time frame on that. I would hope within a month's time.

I talked to a woman that didn't speak very good english & I had to repeat everything to here multiple times, so who knows what discs they will send you out when they actually do & will they send them to the correct place/address. She asked me for the quantity of my purchase of the set & I told her 1 but I told her that I needed 2 replacement discs, 1 for Superman 1 & then 2, the Deluxe Edition of Superman 3 so who knows how many discs they will actually be expecting me to send back. I would certainly hate to have to call them back again if they sent me out the wrong discs.
