It would be cool to have a more modern, gritty, “badass” version of Superman on the big screen while the tv side has a more classic “aw shucks” type of Superman. Then everyone would be happy. STAS/JL struck the perfect balance between the badass and Boy Scout elements. Wish they’d ape that interpretation for the moviesGiven the news about Cavill and Superman films currently, this news makes sense and the signs were there.
But regardless, because of Cavill/Superman, and not having both, this series if true will ultimately be bittersweet.
Gritty would have to make sense.
But modern badass Superman exists, has to exist. And @Boy Scout without gritty, would you accept?

I don’t like a gritty badass Superman, but it seems like half the fan base does.Gritty, "badass" Superman - that's almost how I feel he should be represented too.
Whilst I want to see Hoechlin in a Superman series I agree it should be Superman saving the day, not Superman and his 'back-up'.Thinking about it some more while I would love to see a new Superman series I have no desire to see it done by this creative team. I mean I have no desire to see a team Superman and him with a bunch of sidekicks. Say what you want about L&C but when it was a job for Superman it was a job for Superman. Not Clark, Chloe and GA and Lois just Superman. That's where I think the Flash, GA, and Supergirl have gone wrong at. For Flash it should really be only him with Kid Flash showing up here and there. For Green Arrow it should be him and Arsenal or Black Canary. Supergirl IMO should be going solo or with the LSH. I just feel a Superman show by this team is not a good idea.
It’s become a cliche to say this now, but that picture of Tyler is more Superman than Cavill was in three whole movies.
Sadly, I think Cavill would have been great in the role with the right script, right characterization of Superman, and the right director.
However, in Hoechlin's first appearance as Supes, he absolutely nailed it - and the character and story were written in a way for Superman to do what he does best, save people and fight evil ! Anyway, I don't blame Cavill, I think he was let down by the writers and director. But, if the way forward is for a TV show with Hoechlin, then I think that's awsome !
Speaking of awesome, check this out !

Damn straight. It’s become a cliche to say this now, but that picture of Tyler is more Superman than Cavill was in three whole movies.
After the Elseworlds crossover, I expect to see some fan-made trailers for a Superman show also featuring Lois Lane.
I'd like to see some actors eventually cast as Perry White and Martha Kent.
And James Olsen needs a younger brother also named Jimmy who is less of an alpha male but grows up to become a photographer. Unfortunately Mechad Brooks's younger brother (I think it's Billy Brooks) looks just as much of an alpha male and regularly features on Double Toasted.
As a kid, I always found Jimmy Olsen to be very relatable. He was our window into that universe. I’ll never get why they went for Jimmy in name only for Supergirl.
And yeah I think everyone at WB will be keeping an eye on this crossover to see how Hoechlin’s Superman is received. This is pretty significant. It’s the first time we’re seeing live action Superman after the debacle that was Justice League.
Feels like a no brainier to do a Superman show with him now. I guess it would just be WB’s film considerations getting in the way.
