Superman TV Series Starring Tyler Hoechlin?

Would you like to see a new Superman TV series?

Given the news about Cavill and Superman films currently, this news makes sense and the signs were there.

But regardless, because of Cavill/Superman, and not having both, this series if true will ultimately be bittersweet.
It would be cool to have a more modern, gritty, “badass” version of Superman on the big screen while the tv side has a more classic “aw shucks” type of Superman. Then everyone would be happy. STAS/JL struck the perfect balance between the badass and Boy Scout elements. Wish they’d ape that interpretation for the movies

No thanks to any “modern, gritty, badass” Supes anywhere, thanks. I’m fine with differences in interpretation, but I’ve no interest in watching that kind of Superman...anywhere.

Gritty would have to make sense.

But modern badass Superman exists, has to exist. And @Boy Scout without gritty, would you accept?

Depends on the definitions of modern and bad ass. Those are things Superman perpetually has to be, but in his own way. On their own, I take those buzz words to essentially mean “more like Batman.”

What are your examples of a modern badass Superman?

They did. Though Snyder did pull the stick out of Supermans ass. Maybe that's why MoS and BvS failed Supes wasn't a big enough *******.

Gritty, "badass" Superman - that's almost how I feel he should be represented too.

I don’t like a gritty badass Superman, but it seems like half the fan base does.

I want a balanced Superman. The DCAU Superman is ideal.

I like a Superman in the mold of Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, or Tyler Hoechlin. I feel they all have a lot in common, with minor updates to help them to feel contemporary for their respective eras. Those three provide evidence that Superman needs only minor updates. The core of the character should remain intact. If it ain’t broke...

We’ve had a number of good live action Supermen, and I feel that the DCEU just missed the point of the character completely. The blueprint was right there so it’s especially disappointing. We wanted the DCEU to provide the definitive, classic versions of these heroes, but they tried reinventing the wheel and it just... didn’t work... none of the DCEU characters have resonated with me on a deep level besides Wonder Woman.

Thinking about it some more while I would love to see a new Superman series I have no desire to see it done by this creative team. I mean I have no desire to see a team Superman and him with a bunch of sidekicks. Say what you want about L&C but when it was a job for Superman it was a job for Superman. Not Clark, Chloe and GA and Lois just Superman. That's where I think the Flash, GA, and Supergirl have gone wrong at. For Flash it should really be only him with Kid Flash showing up here and there. For Green Arrow it should be him and Arsenal or Black Canary. Supergirl IMO should be going solo or with the LSH. I just feel a Superman show by this team is not a good idea.

Whilst I want to see Hoechlin in a Superman series I agree it should be Superman saving the day, not Superman and his 'back-up'.

Okay, this has to lift the spirits of Superman fans.

Check these out, makes me feel better already.

Tyler Hoechlin Reveals First Look at Superman & Lois Lane in Elseworlds

:smf:

It’s become a cliche to say this now, but that picture of Tyler is more Superman than Cavill was in three whole movies.

Sadly, I think Cavill would have been great in the role with the right script, right characterization of Superman, and the right director.

However, in Hoechlin's first appearance as Supes, he absolutely nailed it - and the character and story were written in a way for Superman to do what he does best, save people and fight evil ! Anyway, I don't blame Cavill, I think he was let down by the writers and director. But, if the way forward is for a TV show with Hoechlin, then I think that's awsome !

Speaking of awesome, check this out !

I'm all in favour of a Superman TV show. Hoechlin has been great in the role so far. And Elizabeth Tulloch looks great as Lois. They both look like leads of a TV show.

Is Superman shorter than both Flash and Arrow?

After the Elseworlds crossover, I expect to see some fan-made trailers for a Superman show also featuring Lois Lane.

I'd like to see some actors eventually cast as Perry White and Martha Kent.

And James Olsen needs a younger brother also named Jimmy who is less of an alpha male but grows up to become a photographer. Unfortunately Mechad Brooks's younger brother (I think it's Billy Brooks) looks just as much of an alpha male and regularly features on Double Toasted.

Feels like a no brainier to do a Superman show with him now. I guess it would just be WB’s film considerations getting in the way.

As a kid, I always found Jimmy Olsen to be very relatable. He was our window into that universe. I’ll never get why they went for Jimmy in name only for Supergirl.

And yeah I think everyone at WB will be keeping an eye on this crossover to see how Hoechlin’s Superman is received. This is pretty significant. It’s the first time we’re seeing live action Superman after the debacle that was Justice League.

But they know how Hoechlin's Superman has been received already. Everyone has had glowing praise for him. They don't need to see the crossover. All it will do is reinforce things, especially if Tulloch's performance as Lois Lane is also spot on. With the two of them nailing it, it could seem crazy not to have them in their own show.

Yeah it’s pretty much unanimous praise for the guy.

One thing I really like about Hoechlin is that he’s actually American. There are a ton of British actors that can pull off a great, realistic American accent, but Cavill isn’t one of them.

I want the new Lex to be in the Rosenbaum mold. Dude is still the best Lex by miles. The new guy needs to be suave and charismatic. Someone that could be the greatest superhero in the DC Universe if not for his hubris.

Stay the **** away from anything resembling Eisenberg’s Lex, and they’ll be good.
