Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin IS Superman

I think you have a point, but for me, I think I would've felt the same way about the shirt rip even if those movies hadn't been made. Realism isn't that important to me at the end of the day; I just want to be entertained.

I think Donner's motto of verisimilitude is the best approach to these types of things.

With that said, I would've been funny if they went with the version that's pretty much a reverse of Flash where Superman could fold his street clothes with enough pressure and put them in a pocket in his suit. :woot:

Iconic shirt rip

I literally can't stop looking at this iconic shot! It is for me hands down THE BEST Superman rip pic EVER!! It's THAT good. I get goosebumps. The rip was my absolute favorite part of watching superman. Be it cartoon or live action. I can't even tell you how many times I've done this one move. It meant that Superman was about to fly into action. I couldn't wait for that as a kid. Man.... Goosebumps. Why do I feel like this might be my favorite version of superman? That actually makes me feel bad in a weird way. Idk... Henry's Superman is fantastic but he's missing something. He honestly has been held back from being the TRUE man of steel. Its right there! So close. I just wish Zack (someone who I've defended from the start feverishly) actually wanted to put the superman I love on screen. The boy scout goodie two shoes that turns on the kick ass and loves what he does and sees the good in everyone but is also smart and can be both serious and fun. Zack brought the badass that I've been longing to see for decades but forgot the charm. Really... All I've ever wanted in summery (and I'm just be honest) is a Christopher Reeve Superman that is built and fights like Henry's.

^This right here. Call me nuts, but I think Supergirl has captured more of that essence in one year than most Superman projects released since 1978.

It's early doors of course and all we're seeing is set pictures. I know I should keep my expectations in check but I just can't help but be so damn excited. I've said before I'm a huge fan of what Snyder & Cavill are doing but that doesn't mean I'm not ecstatic for a more joyful take on the character that seems more in line with the comics version that I love so much.

same here!

same here!

Triple of the same!
I've liked both Superman movies, but I would love to see a lighter-hearted Man of Steel show up once again. Perhaps after he's reborn and all that!

I keep having this fear

I that the Superman we're getting isn't the real Superman but some villain pretending to be the MOS.

Surely not though.

I agree with this poster who likes to be called nuts!

As for the shirt rip, as previously noted, I'm happy to suspend disbelief due to the iconic imagery (probably more due to licensing / promotional images than instances of it being seen on screen).

However, I'm also happy to believe that the suit is made from Kryptonian material which, with the assistance of super-strength, can fold down into a very small size (i.e. mobile phone small) and which Clark Kent simply carries with him everywhere. Not sure about the boots though. Or things like the belt buckle which wouldn't lend themselves to being easily folded. I guess ... a magic spell from Zatanna?

Because his cape look like Injustice, I originally thought - What if this Superman is the evil Superman from the Injustice universe?

I wish Tyler can play multiple Supermen - regular, Kingdom Come, and Injustice!!

What is that?

Judging from the other pictures, it seems like some kind of device to protect Superman from Kryptonite poisoning since he's fighting Metallo (or a character which appears to be based on Metallo). I think Superman normally wears a lead-lined suit when fighting Metallo, but I guess this is their TV version?

I thought that this could be an imposter Superman as well - which would help to explain why he seemed to avoid Kara / Supergirl, because he didn't want to be revealed as a fake.

But, I don't think that they're going in that direction based on the other set pics of Clark and Kara seemingly getting along just A-OK.

That armor reminds me of Superboy-Prime's.

I wonder if Tyler is actually playing multiple Supermen.

Why, thank you. ;)

Super-compression, I suppose. But that's just among the many ways Clark's been able to hide his super-suit for decades.

There's some intangible that is lacking with Hoechlin. His facial expressions in the still shots that I've seen are really, really weird. I hope he doesn't come across the same way on the show.

I've always found the shirt rip weird. Does he not get hot? Does he not pee? Does he not wear underwear?

It's one of those character aspects that shouldn't be overthought. Logically, a reporter wouldn't want to constantly destroy his shirts for practical and financial reasons, but Supes would lose a slice of iconic imagery without the rip.

I kinda like the Dean Cain spin change thing he did lol

and that made a lot less sense then the shirt rip (but it looked cool)

Actually, it makes more sense to avoid destroying his civilian clothes this way, but the spin move is too strongly associated with Wonder Woman for this to really work for Supes.

Stephen Amell: Went for a walk with my daughter this afternoon... Next thing you know...

BTW, does anyone know how to posts tweets on here?

Yeah it's just a small niggling fear but I think it's wrong.

Yeah clicking on the actual link has me convinced that little fear of mine needn't be there :woot:

Definitely looks like Mettallo or a version of doesn't it?

I like when Superman uses tech, he did it quite often in Superman the Animated Series quite often with help from Emil Hamilton. I would love it if Hamilton appeared aswell

I hope Superman crosses over to Arrow.

Agreed, I'm a fan of Arrow even if it hasn't been as good as it once was but Superman appearing on that first before say Flash or Legends would be a huge boost to Arrow. I think it would be cool for them to have a relationship like Clark and Bruce do in the comics.

On that note would be cool if Supes said he reminds him of Batman. And before anyone says the Earth Kara is on only has 2 Heroes don't forget that Batman is often thought of as an urban legend so he could quite easily exist in that universe.

Kinda reminded me of what Superman said to Superman X in LoSH Season 2.

Superman: (to Kell-El) I know we're supposed to be related, but you remind me more of a friend of mine. Strong-willed, bit of a loner, and when the time came for him to be part of a team, he resisted. And, while he never liked it, he'll tell you he did far more good as a member of that group than he ever could alone. It just took learning how to compromise.

Yes exactly what was on my mind :woot: something like that could be perfect. You wouldn't even need anymore than that.
