Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin IS Superman

And before anyone says the Earth Kara is on only has 2 Heroes don't forget that Batman is often thought of as an urban legend so he could quite easily exist in that universe.
I agree, I've always liked to think that Superman has a few superfriends in this world already (including Batman and WW) that Kara doesn't know about, just as we learned was the case with Martian Manhunter. Just because the Justice League aren't public figures right now doesn't mean they haven't met already. I could imagine in this world that Batman remains an urban legend/rumored vigilante, Diana still laying low and trying to preserve the secret existence of the Amazons/Themiscyra, and Aquaman just being Supes' ally in the sea. The Super cousins could just be the most public ones.* At least that's my head canon until they tell us otherwise. :woot:

*GL could still be introduced to everyone for the first time on the show though, IMO. He brings a lot of baggage with him in terms of Earth's place in the rest of the galaxy that could make for a fun storyline at some point down the road.

Stephen Amell: Went for a walk with my daughter this afternoon... Next thing you know...

BTW, does anyone know how to posts tweets on here?

Amell looks bigger than him too. Although I bet Jimmy is bigger than Amell. I wonder if he's even bigger than Diggle.

And his costume looks a little loose in this photo under the S.

Yeah and we know from season one that Martian Manhunter knows Superman.

I think if we're ever going to get Green Lantern on TV (which lets face it given his hiatus on the movies we should have) it will probably be on Arrow given they're the ones who've teased Hal Jordan. Plus given the Hal Ollie relationship from the comics I think it would be best.

It could very easily be perspective, Amell is wearing a hat there too.

Again it's a costume for at the moment a max of two episodes. They aren't going to spend more on a tight fitting one for that little time. Superhero costumes are very expensive to make, even going back to 1989/1990 when they did the Flash TV Series that costume he wore reportedly cost $1 million to make which is why it looked tatty by the shows end.

Mehcad is probably taller than David Ramsey, but I'm not sure that he is any broader in the shoulder's or bigger in the arms.

I believe there is more than one suit, and there is also, from a major reveal photo, that that suit is bigger....

I REALLY WANT people to stay as "unspoiled" as possible, so I will simply post a site for the big reveal here, but LET'S PLEASE POST THE PICS WITH SPOILER WRAPS.....THANKS.

I keep having this fear...

Hypothetically… Superman’s dramatic, two-episode appearance could be a way to “satisfactorily” resolve certain issues. I.e., as an often-referenced character, he might get dispatched in one definitive fashion or another (disabled, killed, sent off on an intergalactic mission, etc.). Thus: 1) The focus will remain on Supergirl (as the star/center of these adventures); and 2) there’s now a clear answer to the thread question “Why doesn’t Superman help Supergirl with the really big problems?”

That said… from Benoist’s comments, it doesn’t seem like Superman will be a gimmicky, one-and-done thing. It seems like there’re making a bigger commitment towards the character.

I thought that this could be the case as well. I don't see them killing Superman, but perhaps he sets off on an intergalactic adventure with whoever is in the pod. Or maybe the pod occupant warns Superman of some intergalactic threat which Superman decides to investigate. Or maybe he goes missing when investigating Cadmus and Supergirl's rescue mission then extends to both Clark and her father (while also giving Cadmus an opportunity to create Superboy). I guess we'll wait and see.

That sounds like a possible scenario....although killing off Superman would give Melissa quite a dramatic piece to work with, she is so damn good I love it when they give her those kinds of scenes to work with.

Killing off Superman is a big no no for me. We've just seen it in the films.

I also think it's simple why he isn't always around because he's busy. I don't really understand the issue with that yet people are willing to let it slide for the comics or cartoons?

I also think this whole she's in his shadow thing so lets write him out is ridiculous. There's no need to do anything like that, much like Robin will forever be Batman's sidekick Supergirl will forever be Superman's cousin. She can still stand on her own and she did in season one.

They will have to come up with a more solid reason for sure, simply because he is now there in all his glory. IT ALSO, depends on the story, we have no idea why he is on scene, how much of that is in Metropolis, how much is in National City....did Supergirl ask for his help, did he ask for Supergirl's help.....right now we just don't know enough to really speculate much further.

Yeah, we don't want another death of Superman again. Although maybe they can bring a small-screen Batman into this and have a CW version of Batman vs Superman. :o

Or maybe they will do that if they have Batwoman. It will Batwoman vs Supergirl: Dawn of Just ice cream.

You know my favourite thing about Hoechlin in the costume? He looks so comfortable, there's no self awareness there at all.

Well, in his last series, he was half naked most of the time.....he's probably feeling pretty good about filming in Vancouver with some clothes on. ;)

I feel it's mostly the cape attachments that push it into cosplay territory, otherwise the rest of the suit is generally fine.

The cape attachments remind me of Mor-El's suit. At least where it is attached....

Best superman hair ever lol This dude Really is starting to look more and more awesome

I'd have to agree there about the hair. It's funny how much the hair actually completes the look for a Superman image.

Who is Mor-El? Sounds like Lara's husband decided to do a multiplicity cloning experiment on himself so that there could be Mor-El to satisfy everyone instead of just Jor-El. :oldrazz:

Tyler keeps looking better and better. It's amazing how he transformed for the role. Honestly, in some pics I don't even recognize him. When I look at him, I see Clark Kent/Superman, and not the guy from Teen Wolf.

I think because the cape attachments are so big, then when combined with the S shield, it looks from a distance as if he's wearing a big red triangle over his shoulders.

Absolutely, what is still making me chuckle slightly is Hoechlin was always a fan cast favourite for Batman based on his looks with the stubble etc. Yet you see him as Clark or Superman and he looks like he stepped out of a comic book.
