SUPERNATURAL Season 8! - Part 1

Well, if the angel tablet locks the angels up in heaven, (like the demon tablet does with demons and hell) I can see why Cas wouldn't want Sam or Dean to have it. With all the angel trouble they've had, Cas might just assume they'd want to seal both gates.

It doesn't just lock these guys up. It kills them. Crowley told Meg the boys meant to "close the gates of hell and kill all of us" with the demon tablet. Naomi said if they got the angel tablet "They could destroy us!"

The tablets do more than just close gates. They seem to wipe the locations and the people off the map. The tablets are God's failsafe. Weapons of Celestial Destruction.

Crowley could have been exaggerating in hopes of getting Meg to flip on the boys.

Naomi probably would consider the angels being trapped in heaven as similar to being destroyed since it would destroy their reason for being.

So unless the boys and/or Kevin confirm that the tablet actually destroys the targets then we have to assume that they only imprison the targets. After all that's what it did to the leviathan.

The fact two independent very old sources on opposing teams said the same thing in one episode is enough to assume they were being truthful. Kevin hasn't even translated the whole tablet let alone the angel so I wouldn't expect them to know this little detail yet.

There is every chance I'm wrong tho.:)

I took Crowley's words as...the demons on Earth are destroyed while Hell seals up, and that could be the same for the angels as the ones on Earth would be destroyed while Heaven seals up as well.

I'm hoping for another demon angel rumble like that episode with Anna before the show is done.

Angels can be in two places simultaneously and move from one place to the next in the blink of an eye. The ones on earth would be able to get back to heaven before the gate shut. No whatever it is actually kills angels and it isn't just gates shutting. These tablets are weapons not just locks.

We're talking about the Word of God...whatever it says, such as closing the gates of Heaven, I could see it overpowering angels trying to get off the Earth.

*continues to stare at avvy*

Hrm...hrm....yah, yah..."Heaven and Hell" was a very awesome episode. At least one of my favorite episodes of the entire series.

It just doesn't make sense for an angel to consider that a destruction of the species. Even if a third of them die on earth and they are locked in heaven they are locked in a place they can be bent to their will. That doesn't exactly warrant dramatic screaming about destruction and doomsday for the species. Especially considering they could wait around in a closed heaven for god to return and beg forgiveness. That isn't destruction. That is time out. I just can't believe they would get this up in the air over a lock. There is much more to these tablets. They are like books with all kinds of stuff in them. Naomi fears more than just the gates being closed.

Who knows what else the angel tablet talks about, but all we have to go by is just an offhand remark by Crowley that doesn't quite make sense that every demon will die even in Hell because what would be the point of even sealing the gates when all the demons were to die?

Maybe so something else can't claim it after the demons are gone. We know leviathans would have been able to. Perhaps god made a way to seal hell after the demons were destroyed so the leviathans couldnt make a try for it. Or perhaps something else could claim it and god didn't want that to happen.

Based on the original description by Kevin about what the tablet contained it seemed that it only made it possible to close the gate and thus preventing demons from leaving hell. There wasn't even anything to indicate that demons who are already free would be pulled back in.

It just seems unlikely that God would design the tablet spell to kill them all since demons are just warped human souls. Closing the gates achieves the apparent goal of the tablet which seems to be to protect humanity.

On a side note, a few episodes back Dean said that the girl on the ranch wouldn't go to hell if they managed to close the gates... I personally thought that wouldn't be true since bad humans should still go to hell and not get a free pass. If the trials mean that people no longer have to answer for the actions it would be a dramatic shift in the way that Supernaturals world works. Btw, I know she wasn't bad but she made a deal and would still be bound by it when she died.

Guys, we've already seen a spell from the tablet that kills demons. Those anti-demon bombs Kevin makes, he got the recipe from the tablet.

There's a big difference between a hand-grenade and a WMD....

That's a good point. My point still stands though I think. Cass would probably just assume Sam and Dean would use the tablet. Or at least he wouldn't want to risk it. I think we'll get a very specific answer about the tablets once Metatron is introduced. Maybe that's who intervened with Cass last episode and the bus Cass boarded is headed to him? Being the one who wrote the words of god, he'd have a means and a reason to put a "bring this to me" spell on the angel tablet once it was uncovered.

Sorry for the late reply. I only come on here while I'm pretending to work at the office :oldrazz:

Haha no problem:woot:

Its gonna be really interesting when Metatron shows up because this has been building for over a season. I think we all can agree he will probably be a game changer.

While Leviathans are much stronger than demons, I don't see how they could've gone to Hell to control it.

If the leviathans could get into heaven, an arguably more defended position, they could get into hell which is nothing more than a celestial prison.

That is widely speculating to say they can reach Hell or Heaven as nothing has been discussed regarding it.

The leviathans were never shown to have any interest in anything other than the Earth. That said, Dick was a resourceful fellow and could probably have found his way into Hell from Earth, but if he was still locked up in purgatory then he could never have taken over Hell so a safeguard against that seems unlikely.

Who is speculating? In season 6 the leviathans pigibacked there way into heaven via Cass.

You asked why God would seal the gates if the tablet destroyed the demons, and I gave you an answer that is presented in the show. A powerful enough creature could claim it and use it.

I thought they just slaughtered the garrison, namely the angels guarding Kevin.

It doesn't matter tho, because the point stands. If the leviathans can pigiback into heaven which they did then another powerful creature could as well. The same would go for hell. And this season they showed that a creature can pigiback out of purgatory, and angels can reach into purgatory and pull stuff out. This show is continually making it clear that boundaries don't exist if you know what you are doing. God wouldn't leave a vacant hell open for something else to claim. Hence why the gates seal after the tablets destroy their respective target.

The gates sealing seem to be a secondary precautionary function to the main function which is destruction.

They piggy-backed an angel who absorbed every single soul inside Purgatory that included the Leviathans. If it was just the Leviathans, there's no way a Leviathan could have travelled to Heaven while controlling an angel as we see what happens when it was just the Leviathans inside an angel.

It's not really presented at all the way you're trying to explain it, though.

We also see what happens when it's just Leviathans inside an angel...can't really see the Leviathans using an angel to get to Heaven when said angel was close to bursting out in a matter of seconds.

I thought they just slaughtered the garrison, namely the angels guarding Kevin.

The angels on Earth with Kevin got slaughtered, but I'm sure the angels still left in Castiel's garrison are alive, such as Inias(who I hope shows up again).
