SUPERNATURAL Season 8!

At this point, I have to disagree.

Hunting isn't just an occupation for Sam and Dean, it's life. They've both literally gone to Hell for it. Sam sacrificed himself to save the world. At this point, I can't possibly imagine that he'd be able to read the paper, see stories that he knows are related to the supernatural... and just ignore them. And pretend that there aren't monsters out there that eat children. No matter how beautiful or loving Amelia may be. He's just not that guy.
Maybe Sam's just tired of hunting and of the same stuff over & over again, not to mention exposing himself to danger all the time, adding to that living and travelling alone (while Dean was in purgatory).
Then again, I don't get how his conscience let him walk away from Kevin, knewing that Kev was in danger!!!

Season 8 is getting better ratings than 7, hope it keeps this way.

Partially due to "Arrow". Great pairing. We're getting numbers we haven't gotten in years.

Yah. It's hard to say it's just because the season is better, but because of being paired with Arrow.

EDIT: I'm rewatching 8.01 again and am I the only one who noticed someone standing outside of Amelia's house when Sam was leaving?

There was definitely someone. Imo, it couldn't be Dean, Crowley or Kevin. That leaves....Castiel maybe, or Benny or...someone new? Maybe Bobby(how? I don't know, but it's a suggestion, lol)

OR, it could just be a pedestrian the director didn't notice because it was dark.

Maybe it was Benny and he killed Amelia. That might explain whose funeral he was at.

I'm definitely reaching but yeah, someone was there.

And my 10,000th post will be to reply to you. You should be proud, haha.

That is a bit overreaching to say the director was filming and let someone stand right there.

I am honored, sir and/or madam.

It was a night shot. Like I said, he might have just not seen the guy standing there because it was dark. Goofs like that happen all the time in filmmaking.

the silhouette of the person takes up half the screen. very deliberate inclusion imo.

Imo, very deliberate indeed. I suspect it's someone that'll come into play very soon or it could be someone we have already met(maybe such as Benny).

So, anywho...here's a new tidbit:

Recurring characters are rare on "Supernatural," especially lately, as the Winchesters have lost old friends like Bobby and Rufus. Fortunately, while Dean was busy in Purgatory and Sam was busy having picnics in the park, there were still a few hunters left to keep people safe. Zap2it has exclusively confirmed that an old friend of the Winchesters' will return this year to help Sam and Dean out on a case. (Though Dean might object to that description.)

"Lost" actor Jon Gries will return this season as Martin Creaser, a hunter who helped John Winchester out multiple times while he was alive. Fans will remember Martin from the Season 5 episode "Sam, Interrupted," in which Sam and Dean found him in a mental institution after the trauma of hunting got the better of him.

Now, Martin is out of the loony bin and back on the job. As we already reported, in the Halloween episode, Sam will finally come face-to-face with Benny, Dean's vampire pal from Purgatory. Suffice to say that Sam won't exactly be inviting Benny to join the family.

In the upcoming episode "Citizen Fang," Sam asks Martin to keep an eye on Benny after some unexplained deaths in Benny's hometown. Dean won't be particularly happy about it -- and when Martin finds out that a Winchester has teamed up with a vampire, he will not be impressed.

So, was last weeks episode worth watching? I keep hearing it was really boring?

So I'm assuming...

That Benny's deal is he's not supposed to feed off of humans? I wonder if that's something Dean worked out with him beforehand, or if it's a rule that's imposed after Sam finds out about his existence.

With Dean having told him to keep his nose clean in the premiere, I would suspect Dean made that kind of deal to even help Benny get out of Purgatory. Perhaps Sam doesn't even believe that Benny would promise such and has Martin follow and keep tabs on Benny.

For November sweeps -

SUPERNATURAL – “A Little Slice of Kevin” (9:00-10:00pm)
Mrs. Tran (Lauren Tom) and Kevin (Osric Chau) work to concoct a demon bomb to use against Crowley (Mark Sheppard), and Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stunned when Castiel (Misha Collins) appears and tells them he escaped from Purgatory.

They mentioned there are other tablets but it seems like the Demon one is gonna be the focus this whole season. I wonder if they're gonna introduce any other ones.

I usually don't like Supernatural's stand alone episodes that much, they tend to strike me as boring and repetitive. This is easily the best stand alone episode in the entire series, as far as I'm concerned.

Werewolf on the run with some control over her condition and an implied possibility of her becoming a Hunter...

... is this a backdoor pilot?

If so it's probably the best one I've seen in a while.

I did not expect this episode to be as good as it was.

Not really a "backdoor pilot." This is the fourth episode of the season meaning the first arc is coming to a close and the next episode is going to start up another arc which will then be wrapped up in the eight episode. Dean came back seeing all monsters as evil and something that deserves to be killed, in this episode Dean realizes that the instincts he came back with may not be altogether right. Basically it's closing this side of the arc so a new arc can begin next week.

ADDING: And yep, his vampire ally comes back next week - everything is perfectly orchestrated. Just something I noticed managing a virtual series of the series for a couple of years - the "four episodes - one arc" is a usual SN pattern.

Agreed. Makes up for last week's lackluster episode. This is the kind of stuff season 6 and 7 was missing. We didn't have episodes like this (except "The French Mistake" but we've already done the meta stuff). This episode is up there with one of the best in the series. And I know its unlikely but I want Ol Werewolf Gal to return.

How does that make it not a backdoor pilot? Just because most backdoor pilots are shoehorned into the show and don't have anything to do with anything doesn't mean that's a qualifying feature of backdoor pilots.
