Survivor: Redemption Island

who's Erika Shay? I'm looking forward to this interesting twist.

Erika Shay use to be in charge of casting for Survivor and The Amazing Race. She's big in the LA scene and she's notorious for recruiting her friends to be on Survivor, skipping over people that applied. She's very good friends with Parvati, Amanda, and Danielle and is one of the reasons why all three of them got on Heroes vs. Villains over some of the other past female players that were being considered.

She quit or was fired after H vs V over drama after Parvati came to visit her while they were filming Samoa, and she gave Parvati inside information and footage of Russell playing during Samoa, for Parvati to use to her advantage on H vs. V.

Apparently, this seasons cast is filled with people that are her "leftovers" or ones that she had planned on casting before she left.

Oh definitely! Not saying recruiting is an absolute bad thing. A lot of good characters on Survivor throughout the years have been people that were recruited!

I think we're going to be getting the cast sometime next week.

They've updated the Nicaragua site with a link to a video introducting the SIXTEEN new cast members for Redemption Island. Of course the link isn't functional yet and just redirects back to the Nicaragua cast.

They've always recruited but there were a couple more people that got on the old fashion way this season.

Including Ralph, Andrea, Kristina, and Krista all applied as well.

Not sure I like them bringing back anyone, but I'll see how it plays out. Survivor is pretty good when it comes to bringing in new ideas, but they're also not afraid to drop something that isn't working.

I'm glad the rumor that they would both have immunity until the merge turned out to be wrong. It'll be much more interesting this way. Wonder how long either of them will last...

Entertainment Weekly mentioned it in their article when they announced they were returning:

The former players will each join a tribe after a drawing of concealed buffs and — contrary to internet rumors — they will not be offered any immunity, meaning either one of them could be voted out first (and sent to Redemption Island, where they would be forced to compete to reenter the game).

That's cool - I like that a little better then. I didn't really care for the rumor that they had immunity until merge.

Here's hoping that they both end up being voted out first in their respective tribes, that will almost certainly insure that Survivor never tries something like this again.
