Agreed. I think in many ways, Russell is just as emotionally stunted as Brandon. I think a big part of his response is a reflection of him being hurt. All season he has heard his nephew, whom he seems to love bad mouth him and imply (if not outright state) that Russell tainted the family name. What I made of the whole rant about the Hantz name was basically Russell telling his nephew that he is hurt and doesn't think he has anything to be ashamed of, at least not regarding being a Hantz.

Yeah , Russel did have a bit of fire in his eyes , I could see him being hurt and shocked at the same time. Probst is such an instigator, I knew at some point he'd bring up the idea of them playing against each other.

Felt bad for Brandon. Sure, he played a stupid game and came off as a creep regarding Mikayla, but you'd think his family would at least have his back. Poor bastard. :csad:

Also, not really sure what to think of next season's twist... are the two tribes supposed to be in close proximity or what?

The two tribes are going to be living on the same beach.

Oh, on the same beach? I thought I just heard him say the same island, which really didn't have that much of an impact on me. I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention.

The same beach could be interesting.

Sophie was actually calling the shots the whole time, from behind the scenes. She was the deciding vote/one who overruled the following evictions: Dawn, Cochran, Edna...and she was the one who convinced Coach to vote out Brandon at final 5, which was the move that lost him the game. I mean, her opponents did a lot of the work for her, and she just sat back and watched them crash and burn, but she still had her finger on the pulse of the game throughout.

You can tell Probst thought she was a lame winner though. Completely overshadowed by Ozzy and Coach even after she'd won.

I'm excited for it. Mixing all the contestants together should lead to shifting alliances and more power moves, something the last two seasons have desperately lacked. And thank God the Redemption Island and two returning player gimmicks are gone.

I actually hoped that Sophie would win.

I´m a bit disappointed that Coach didn't win, he played really well and was instrumental in getting his five man alliance to the end.

I just realized something about the reunion....... they didn't let Semhar do any spoken word. :csad:

I think Brandon brought far more "shame" on the family than Russell ever could.

Probably, yeah.

Brandon came off as a creepy and disturbed religious nut case, Russell was just a jerk who played the game hard. I know that I'd rather play the game with Russell, I wouldn't trust the guy but at least I wouldn't be afraid to go to sleep at night :oldrazz:

Still, it's a shame that his family seems to have treated him so badly.

If anything, Brandon made me appreciate Russell more.

I was a little disappointed that Coach didn't win, but I didn't mind Sophie. Unlike in recent seasons, there really wasn't someone I didn't want to win.

Completely agree. I loved that they got Russell to show up and speak about his nephew. Personally, I can't blame Russell if he was a little ticked at Brandon. The entire season Brandon just talked about how Russell had embarrassed the family name, etc.

That's Albert, for me. He was just all talk. He was like Rick..... but with more talk. :o

Yeah, Albert was definitely my least favorite out of the final three. I just didn't hate him like some of the other final contestants in past seasons.

Overall, I think this season's final three was pretty likeable.

I agree ... and I can't believe I found Coach to be likeable. I hated him the previous seasons, but it really did seem like he changed and approached the game in a different manner. He was still odd ... but I liked him and thought he seemed like a completely different person from his previous appearances.

I like watching the Ponderosa videos. With the exception of Cochran's first day there, though afterwards people starting warming up to him a bit more, everyone always seems pretty happy to see one another, no matter what tribe they're on. It's a breath of fresh air from the forced drama and *****iness in the Big Brother jury house every season. Survivor must just generally have a better class of people playing the game than BB.
