'Sword of Truth' aka Legend of the Seeker

Oddly enough I agree with the short run like you do. But if they get on story it could go another 10 years easy.

here's the thing though, the books are pretty dense...you can't do that in a weekly show and hold the audiences attention....there are chunks of time in the first, second, and third books where NOTHING happens...its just people on horses talking

you know what they call that... building relationships and drama...they could do one book a season and still get what, 12 seasons. that is what i would have done personally.

that's not what TV (at least TV today) is about....and again, this is a syndicated program, so there has to be an economy of storytelling

I do wonder how long they are going keep this Kahlan-Richard can't be together stuff going.

I really don't see the triangle stuff cause Cara sees the relationship right there out in the open. Course the longer it goes on, the more likely the writers might try and shoe-horn it in just to extend the angst.

it eats up a good portion of the book series, then they kind of figure out that Richard can't be confessed because he truly is devoted to Kahlan

thats another thing the messed up with the boxes story "sigh"

not really, you can still get to that point...again, if the show lasts that long

I get the whole building relationships and drama bit, but the books got too complicated after the first one to do what you're suggesting. A completely alternate set of adventures scripted by Goodkind would have been much more preferable, and only if it could be shown on cable. Tv is the last place you want to see good drama.

You can do it I think. Remember, Phantom starts with Richard injured after the monster's attack and it's set 2 or 3 years after the events of the previous book (or I'm pretty sure it's that many). At that point all the characters are established and the battle with the Order is in full swing, the invasion is pretty far it. If the show could get to that point and establish the people like the books you can easily have a couple years of stories outlined by Goodkind that fills in that time.

I thought you guys said they split up(group wise) on many occasions in the books? They are always around each other in the series,so it's way more annoying.

Yeah, the are apart for quite a bit, wistful longing and all that. Plus when they are together they can't really be together till they figure out how the magic works. There are a couple times when they are "together" before then but there are circumstances helping (like being in the spirit world when it happens).

The confession thing was resolved in the first freaking book.

Yeah, the humor is missing, but then it needs the rest of those Mord Sith to be apart of the group rather than just the small 3 person group. Remember them playing with the squirrel in the Wizard's Keep? Some magical moments in the series to be sure.
Exactly. The Mord Sith were some of the best characters because of their dichotomy...how ruthless they were yet how comical at the same time. And Richard doesnt need a big cast of Mord Sith in this show...they could of at least done it with Cara. Its beyond redemption tho. Plus the Sisters of the Light were so much more effective in the book. You really got the struggle, how the dedicated 25 years of their lives to finding Richard. Then the first 2 kill themselves, alot more powerful than the show did it.

I can't believe Richard just gave up all his wizard power. Doest that mean he's done as a wizard?

No....he hasn't given it up, he just thinks he has....its still there, he's just cut off from it

They made it seem like the hum is all his wizardly power.

nah, the way I understand it, since he has both sides of magic...it takes a lot for him to be drained of his magic, and no one even knows if you can drain a war wizards power

No, he cannot be drained at all. It can be temporarily gone, but not permanent. Unless we are talking about the Chimes. By virtue of him being alive the magic is still there, it's almost like removing apart f someone's DNA.

Series writer Mike Sussman is writing on his Twitter that season 3 is up in the air right now. He's posted a letter fans can write in to Disney if they want.

Hope the show gets renewed.

I wonder what it would be like if this show were cancelled, bought by HBO and then rebooted with an entirely new set of ppl running it who actually have some talent.

Zanos, I will destroy you. Bridget Reagan is Kahlan! Yeah the likeliness of that happening is nil. If that's the case and HBO say picked it up, why not just keep the cast intact. That way you can see Bridget naked.

Keep the cast intact? I'll make the except with Bridget, but that's it. I don't want to be reminded of LOTS. Why would a cable network agree to keep the cast the same if the intention was to reboot? I can't think of anything worse than paying HBO to watch Craig Horner act.

Brandon Routh was always my pick for Richard. Turns out Brandon's also a fan of the books too.
