Tales of the Black Freighter/Under the Hood DVD (Spoilers)

hurm makes me want to get this right now

I was hoping that Tales of the Black Freighter would have dialogue/scenes between the two Bernies mixed in....

Dang, I would've thought this would already be out to promote the film, seems odd to wait weeks after.

I guess we'll see - maybe in the director's cut that includes this footage in the film.

I pre-ordered it a couple of weeks so hopefully it comes a few days before it's release.

Definitely going to pick this up (along with Quantum of Solace) on the 24th.

I plan to pick this up on the 24th as well.

Gerard Butler from 300 is the voice of the pirate in Tales of the Black Freighter.

Lady Leonidas :meow:

12 more days... I wish they released this sooner.

This thread reminds me of a funny story. I accidentally called "Rime of The Ancient Mariner" "Tales of The Black Freighter" this morning. :funny:

it should have come out before or during its release

or perhaps with the extended cinematic cut.

holy hell, i dint know about under the hood!

Just wondering...I'm reading the GN for the first time and curious if this stuff in it is important at all...?

Not essential. Its more of a side story that is symmetrical to the actual events in the novel.

My copy came today it's pretty good but Under The Hood was better. There's some nice little nods like Bernard being interviewed and Dr. Long saying how he would like to pyscho anaylse a superhero.

Will Under the Hood be included as part of the DVD also? I know not part of the film, but as a special feature?

Is any of the Silk Specter 1 stuff from the end of Chapter 9 used for anything in Under The Hood? That would be cool.

Colliders Review Of "Tales of the Black Freighter/Under the Hood". It reveals new information about the DVD/Blu-Ray and how it will show glimpses of scenes that were not shown in the theatrical cut but will appear in the Directors Cut.

The Blu-ray release presents Tales from Black Freighter in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, and in TrueHD in widescreen (2.35:1). It looks amazing, and should fit well into the feature when that cut is revealed. Under the Hood is presented in full frame (1.33:1) and in Dolby Digital 5.1 and TrueHD as well. “Story Within a Story: The Books of Watchmen” (25 min.) talks about how these two pieces came to pass, and their relationship with the main text, giving Lloyd Levin, McHattie, Morgan, and Gugino a chance to talk about it, along with a number of DC people and composer Tyler Bates. It also gives glimpses at the footage that will eventually make up some of that director’s cut. The first chapter of the Motion Comic is also included (26 min.), and the set is wrapped up with a preview of the upcoming Green Lantern cartoon (10 min.)

Ok, watched Black Freighter and I give it an 8/10. Animation was great and Gerard Butler did an excellent job with the voice acting. Pretty accurate to comic's version. But as a stand alone story, it isn't anything special. Probably would work better once seen in Snyder's Ultimate Director's Cut.

Didn't watch Under The Hood yet.

Watched Under the Hood(haven't watched tales of black freighter yet) and thought it was great. I was impressed how detailed it was. I loved the Veidt commercial halfway through. I especially enjoyed Gugino. I didn't love her "old woman" scenes during the Watchmen film but whenver she gets to play the character young(or on this dvd, middle-aged) she really sparkles. And she's hot :)

Old Sally came off as kinda like Zsa Zsa Gabor in the 80's. I didn't think she was that bad when she was older.
