The Dark Knight TDK Casting Sides

I already explained my take on the exceprts themselves. You tend to write a lot about other people´s writing like you know so much about it, it makes it only natural that your own writing is mentioned.

Why would that be natural? That's a tactic people who can't come up with arguments on their own merit utilize. "I can't dispell his notions with logic, so I will either resort to rudeness, or actually attempt to undercut his credibility". Are you incapable of seperating criticism of a medium from someone's personal work?

So, when I exposed the success I achieved as a writer that was "self-*****iating", when you do it´s not?

What successes of mine are we referring to? I write fanfictions. For fun. Fanfictions that most people who read them seem to like. If me saying that is self-******iating, then so be it. I won't deny it. I've gotten good responses to my fan fictions. I won't bother to provide the numbers, though. :)

Like I said, I didn´t say anything to make myself look anything, I was just explaining where I stand on writing, how far I have gone with it and where my take on judging writing comes from.

You know what would have explained that better? You actually being able to DISCUSS a piece of writing without just saying "These are my successes in the field". So...once again. Can you discuss a piece of writing or not?

You don´t have to care about brevity, but getting to the point is a good quality in any writer or debater.

Fair enough. I find your lack of ability or desire to discuss a piece of writing without making this a personal competition to be the key issue here.

But you didn´t mention the positives that you did later. When you criticized, you got into detail. Then to say something good, you made a vague and generic comment.

There aren't that many positives. I mentioned the one I really liked specifically in my first post. I don't consider writing being average a "positive" or a "negative".

For someone who doesn´t worry if people agree or care about what you say, you certainly write like you make a huge deal out of it. If I criticize you a lot, it´s exactly because you constantly ger overly argumentative, defensive and even aggressive, I was actually to some extent teasing you a bit when I brought up your writing, and you as always fall for it.

I write how I speak, and how I am. With intensity. You don't want me to get defensive? Don't bait me. Don't provoke me. I'm not stupid. I know when you are teasing me for the hell of it. You think my responses aren't based in that knowledge? Hence my attempt to get you to provide a single example showing you have read an ounce of what I've written.

If you disagree with me, then you disagree with me. If you don't like me and my methods, then you don't like me and my methods. But if you act like a child because of it, or you present an immature argument, then you're going to be called on it.

I already explained my take on the piece of writing, so this argument that I´m running from it no longer applies. I can discuss writing and I do it here all the time.

Not that many or not, if you had mentioned the ones you didn´t in the first post I wouldn´t have called it harsh. Average is not necessarily negative, but you did make it sound like that in your posts.

I don´t tease you for nothing. If I may say so, to me your "intensity" often gets in the way of your arguments, the debate becomes more about your tone than about your ideas. I say that cuz I think you could be a good, even great guy to debate with, sometimes you do have a valid point, but it turns into these long-winded rants and soon it´s much more a fight than anything else. It´s not just with me, it´s with a lot of people here. I disagree with people here all the time, hunter rider, sandman138, Kevin Roegele, Dr Fate, etc., and we get along just fine. Debate can become intense, and passionate, and still be reasonable.

wow, does anyone even know what this argument is about anymore? guard? ultimatefan?

for real. yall disagree forget it. gaurd you write to much.

Can someone message me some of the script excerpts. I'm at this site, and I see a few of the ones written down. But I'm seeing a lot of red x's and "Imageshck cannot find image" blocks. I'm quite anxious for these leaks, I liked what I've seen so far.

I thought it was about African and European swallows...

Wait Miranda.....are u saying that girls from Africa and Europe swallow........

*books a one way ticket to Europe*

PS: Before someone jumps all over me, I do know what a swallow is, I'm just attempting to be funny.

PPS: But I still do like girls that swallow.

PPPS: I apolojize for any information u didn't need to hear.

PPPPS: BatmanEVH u might have a hard time finding them now, as i know myself and a few others won't even PM them out anymore.

I don't believe I said that, or ever implied it. I'm quite pleased to see that element show up here. It's an element I wish had been present in BATMAN BEGINS. My sarcastic statement was meant as a barb at the lack of honor written into Falcone's character and mob element in BEGINS.

Where was Falcone or any of his outfit shown not to have honor? I know he wasn't specifically demonstrated to have it, really, but I don't recall anything that said he didn't? He seemed like basically any mob boss, from what I could tell.
Because it's rambling, speechified, the wording is lousy, and it just feels awkward. And some of it just doesn't make logical sense.

Where does it not make logical sense?

There are better ways for a mobster to express displeasure over a new breed of criminal. And certainly better methods than insulting a man who may well kill you by calling him a freak. It just rings false to me.

Honestly, it may ring false to you, but when I read it I could hear it being delivered with conviction and it sounded fine. You seem to think it has to be delivered like a speech. I don't see it that way.

Look. First he thinks he's dealing with a generic hoodlum... he asks him if he has any idea whose money he's stealing. It's a threat. When the robber isn't impressed by it, the manager's first reaction is to call him an idiot. Then he instead tries to reason with him - what makes you think the guy who hired you isn't gonna kill you, too? This guy's been around the racket, he knows how it works.

But the thug isn't impressed, whips off his mask. Now the banker is scared, he knows he's dealing with... something much more sinister than he first thought. That changes things. He's scared at first. After the initial "what are you" he then gathers his nerve and berates the guy. He knows he's dead, but he's just... look, as a banker for Maroni, he's got protection. This isn't supposed to be happening. All that talk about honor and respect, that's what that's about - this isn't supposed to be happening to him. He's got protection, you don't mess with Mr. Maroni's bank. But he's already tried that route and Joker wasn't impressed. So all he's got is a handful of honor and respect that amounts to a cup of piss as far as the man with the gun is concerned. "What do you believe in?" It has to be a plea. Maybe an angry plea, but a plea.

Seriously. In the hands of even an essentially competent actor, these lines are fine. Especially with a director who knows what he wants out of it.

You're looking at scenes out of context and accusing the writers of incompetence. Trust me, Guard, I've seen incompetence. It doesn't look like this.

Settle down, Beavis. :o

Honestly, it's kinda hard to judge these lines without the context. We know nothing of what's going on behind these scenes, so it's hard to say what a character would or wouldn't say.

For example, at first I thought the bank managers line "how do you know the guy who hired you wont kill you" was kinda odd. Seemed like a funny thing to say. But then I though, how do I know this doesn't take place after the Joker's well known? Maybe this guy knows the Joker, and his reputation, and assumes this is one of his thugs. So he tries reasoning with the guy by telling him what the Joker will do to him, then Joker takes off his mask and he sees it is the Joker, which prompts the speech. I mean, the speech itself indicates he knows about the Joker, anyways.

Also, now that I mention it, isn't it downright hilarious that after all that crap several months back about the Joker's "mask", that he actually will wear one!!!?! I mean, I still stand 100% by the fact that Ledger's comments were figurative (no one says they're "excited to don a mask" if they're referring to a ski mask), but it is a rather ironic turn of events that Joker will be putting on a mask at some point.

It'd be cool if the ski mask is ruby red, just as a nod to fans cos I think the whole Red Hood thing is unnecessary here.

Thanks to Miranda and Antonello - I did miss some pages. Good stuff here......

I couldn´t have said it better myself. Well done.

Hey all! I've been lurking here awhile but couldn't stay away any longer now that the sides are out. After reading everything I could (big ups to Miranda, Anjow, and Money for getting them and also to Antonello Blueberry for reposting in a word doc) I really love the tone that has been set. I especially like the scene with Gannon and Natascha talking about Bats and her questioning him about being Bats. Reminded me of Year One and TLH where Gordon believed Dent to be Batman....
