Im not a big fan of the total look of the Dark Knight suit, however I think that this style of suit has the potential to be modified to fit ones individual style. Having said that, I have a design in my head for simplifying the look of the DK suit and putting my own spin on it.

Here is the main chest armor. I added the mesh straps to give a hint of the mesh that is used for the actual movie suit. My main undersuit will be a metallic black lycra/spandex. I will also be adding the side armor once this is attached.

I also have done the gauntlets. I still need to adjust the straps on these, but for the most part they are done.

Looks great Shadow. What did you use for the base of the gloves, I'm really diggin those.

Keep up the good work, and do it fast so we can see more.:brucebat:

The gloves I bought at Wal Mart in the automotive department.

I received my cape today, so I can install the gromets in that now. Im just waiting on the undersuit so I can start the armor attachment.

Maybe it's just 'cause you don't have Bale's chin, but the mouth area on that cowl looks really odd. Everything else about it is really awesome and well-constructed, but it looks like it ought to be wider across the bottom...

I actualy had to pad it for a proper fit. Theres nothing snug about it. Thats just the way my facial features are. Because of the smaller mouth opening it exaggerates everything.

Havent been doing too much on this. My Grandpa passed on Saturday so we've been dealing with that.

Ive started on my belt. This is where Im at so far:

Also, on the cape attachment, Im on hold. I STILL havent received my zentai suit and the seller will not respond back to me. So, I may have to shift gears on the undersuit. Which means Ill have to rethink the cape attachment. Ill update when that starts.

The belt is looking really good!

Here is the batman costume I'd like to build!

That looks like a great custom build, Shadowbat. I like that long cape.

This looks like a good thread to continue as a general Batman costume thread, since I can't seem to find one. With all the interest in the Joker costumes (Understandable since it's a great new design for TDK, and most are making theirs from scratch), I was hoping to pick up some pointers from some fellow Bat-men, and show off what I've come up with myself so far.

With the help and urging of a friend (incidentally doing an excellent Joker getup), I've assembled a costume using costume parts from several sources. The main costume is the "Batman Begins" outfit - I got mine from buysuperheros.com. I wasn't particularly fond of the built-in mask, so I got the "Batman Deluxe Mask" from the same place, as well as the BB belt, to replace the foam one that was included. A pair of Superhero Boots from buycostumes.com were also purchased. I liked the gloves I got from buycostumes, but my friend suggested some motorcycle gloves, as they had a much better TDK look, so I got those, and was able to combine them with the gloves I had by cutting off the wrist and attaching them to the biker gloves. I was really happy with that experiment. Buycostumes.com now has TDK gloves that are similar to what I put together I just noticed, but I still like mine better - and I can return them to motorcycle use after.

Some of the difficulties I ran into were that the zippers on the boots seemed rather fragile, and would jam. I rubbed some bar soap on them, and that loosened them up nicely. The back of the chest part of the costume is open (like a surgical gown), and with the integral sculptured foam chest piece, the chest tended to stick out flat (you can see it in the photo). I'll need to either sew some velcro, or add a tie near the bottom to cinch up the lower part of the torso - and maybe get the belt to ride a bit higher. The ears on the mask had a bend in them, in fact one was almost flat with the top of the head. A little rolled up paper towel straightened them out. And the costume itself is pretty thin. I am wearing black jeans under it in the photo, but it's kind of bulky. I'll need to work on that a bit too.

Anybody else getting a Batman costume geared up for the premier?

Is that the Marcus Miller signature bass? i have one... they are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice. oh yea nice job on the costume too....

You know what you can do for that popping chest problem is, cut the foam mold off and glue it onto a lycrs/spandex shirt. Alot of guys, like myself, use Under Armor, but places like WalMart sell their own brand at a fraction of the cost.
You can also get one of those plastic Batman face masks they sell with the toys and glue that to the inside of your cowl, which will give it a more detailed and solid look. Just use Gel styled glue.

This fall, there is also going to be generic styled Begins/TDK boots available, like those superhero boots you bought. I have a pair on order already for my suit.

Ive actually done afew modifications to my suit since that picture. Im going to try to get new ones today.
