The Dark Knight TDK UK Thread

Just the fact that people are making jokes about all this is bad enough.

Just a warning folks. Avoid the "Christian Bale Arrested For Assault" thread over on the Celebrities board. People are, without warning, making jokes seemingly relating to the film's ending. I don't know exactly how much I've been spoiled, but if you wanna err on the side of caution just stay away from the thread.

Thanks for the advice, i was just about to head there.

So did anyone see The Culture Show bit on The Dark Knight? It was about 2 minutes long and pretty disappointing

Jonathan Ross is an annoying tool. God knows how he got the gig to present BBCs movie reviews. Ghost Rider and Batman Forever?!! Zero credibility! He also loathes Kevin Smiths movies for some reason but adores Adam Sandlers!

I like Jonathan Ross, as a presenter and a TV personality. But a lot of the time his verdicts on movies are pretty unreliable.

If he doesnt like Kevin Smith then you know he's not worthy of opinion.

No. Did Kermode give it a positive review?

It was mostly positive, he said he was really floored by the way it was a film that was dealing with complex, interesting dark themes whilst being this big blockbuster, but he said it lacked heart, and that he sat back admiring it rather than really feeling for what was happening, particularly in the latter part of the film.

Keep an eye out for newsnight review on Friday. They're taking a look at it. Pretty high brow show but I'm curious to see if they like it.

What about Talking Movies? are they gonna show it?

This time tomorrow I will have seen TDK, unbelievable.

The Culture Show was ok, nothing really bad but like said above it was missing a bit of heart.
He did clearly enjoy it though in general

stop rubbing it in. I'm waiting to see it at the Imax first

I so cannot wait, I'm SO hyped.

I hope there's some viral followers at the cinema I'm going to, or maybe even some SHH! members or lurkers, because I'm giving out tickets and fortune cards =D

I have been waiting for this movie for three years. Batman Begins absolutely blew me away when I saw it and I have been hanging on every scrap of information about TDK from its inception to its completion. It was by far my most anticipated movie of all time. Well, I finally saw it this morning at a press screening in the UK... and my reaction surprised me completely.

I... had almost no opinion. No reaction. I don't know how I felt about this movie - I can't say that I hated or loved it. Nor can I say I didn't hate it or didn't love it. I was certainly not elated. Nor was I in any sense disappointed. It just... was.

I'm definitely going to see it again - hopefully after some time allowing it to sink in I will be able to realise how I felt about it. But right now, it's so weird - I have no idea. Anybody else feel like this, or am I just a freak?

Completely agree with you. He's one of the funniest presenters we have. But I don't rate him as a film critic. He just happens to be a guy that likes films and hosts a film review program. I wonder how he reviewed 'Meet Dave'.....

Got my Dark Knight ticket for tonight 8pm - 10 hours and counting!

You could tell Kermode really wanted to love the film but he just couldn't emotially connect with it. I think it was a good review, atleast he was honest and didn't just try and trash the movie because its popular and sucessful which is what some highbrow critics do to movies because they know it will get people listening to them.

I agree, there was something holding him back.

I think you have to be objective with reviews to make them worth while, I see Kermode as a reliable source and is usually a deadshot.

There is a trend in England to slam something to make them look like they are cool for saying the opposite to everyone else, but Kermode made what I think are going to be valid points.

We will find out in a few hours

I feel like it's Christmas Day, and I'm just waiting to open my presents....
