The Dark Knight Teaser-trailer audience reaction thread

a couple friends of mine went to see it last night (dont know why there was a midnight showing of Simpsons tho???) just to see the teaser. They said the theatre was about half full, and there was absolutely no reaction to any of the trsilers. Including TDK.

usually the most hype i get in the theater for a trailer is people all talking to the person next to them about how they "want to go see that". Ive never seen everyone all stand up and clap and cheer. Thats just too surreal for me to believe.

I caught the midnight show in New York, and the teaser played. The audience reaction? Stunning.

Seriously, I got on here expecting to see the same reaction but was puzzled when I saw that it wasn't largely reciprocated.

For those who said that the casual viewer wouldn't be interested in the film after seeing the teaser, I'd advise you to stop being such a negative ****ing internet fan boy who thinks he can speak for the general public. The audience clapped, and in my 22 years as a film buff, I have never seen any crowd actually clap after a trailer was shown. I couldn't even tell you what the next trailer was because the entire crowd was busy talking about the "Dark Knight" trailer. The clapping began after the laugh came through.

The laugh was more audible in the theater than it was on the leaked version. Honestly, it reminded me of Mark Hamill, the man who I consider to be the definitive representative of the Joker. Ledger's voice sounds like a cross between Hamill and Nicholson, which I can more than live with.

As said, I've never witnessed an audience actually clap after a trailer. Especially a teaser trailer that didn't show anything. Everyone was buzzing over Michael Caine's lines and how well written, and performed, they are. You have to realize that I'm talking about New York, where we have some of the harshest audiences around. If a New York city, at midnight, would clap after a trailer like that, then I know it was effective. The fan boys need to speak only for themselves, and not for the rest of us. We all loved it. It was great.
Saint, I told you so.:woot:

It's not unusual to get crowd reactions at a midnight showing. Perhaps some clapping and some teenager in the back goes "Woo!", followed by people whispering.

I dont think its unusual to get crowd reaction. When we went to see Spidey 3 they showed the Pirates trailer and I was a bit shocked when it got alot of applause. In all my years of going to movies, I can count on both hands the amount of times a trailer got a "pop". I guess it must be a regional thing.

In my experience of Begins, fans on the internet have an amazing ability to exaggerate audience reaction to their films, but if people really were buzzed after the teaser then great. It's probably more of an American thing to get actively involved in the movie (eg clapping when it finishes!) as in England people never go that far.

yeah that suprises me that England wouldn't be excited enough to clap at somthing cool, in a country that's raining all the time and smells like farts and has baked beans on every freaking thing they eat. I mean c'mon baked beans on your eggs is an " English breakfast"? What an inconsiderate way to start your day, with a big ol' plate of ass fuel. :joker:

I totally buy that there´s a good reaction to the TDK teaser for the simple fact that BB restored audience´s enthusiasm for Batman that B&R killed, and with the success of the viral marketing campaign, I think the hype for this is gonna be huge.

Are people forgetting that another superhero teaser trailer is on the way??? His name is Iron Man. That teaser from the description I heard could kill the hype for the TDK teaser in seconds.

to be honest, the viral marketing campaign has so little effect on the general public. It's mainly to entertain the fans. While it does garner attention at high profile film sites, not everybody regularly visits film sites.

Hey, I live in Scotland, and at the end of "The Simpsons Movie" today, the cinmea burst into cheers and rapturous applause.

dude i cant wait for iron man....but nothing could kill tdk's hype because tdk has a piece of marketing that iron man cant touch with a 100000 mile long pole:

batman begins.

Who???

more good news...simpsons opening day is being massive...defiently gonna do over 25 million; might even hit 30~

yeah, its a great thing that those movie producers are getting even more money from us.

i have an idea. Lets just mail the producers our money right now so they get it in advance

EXACTLY!

Batman Begins- considered by many fans and others to be the definitive Batman films and one of the best superhero films in recent years...

Then add Joker and Harvey Dent onto that- you've got automatic blockbuster. I have a strong feeling about it.

I think TDK and INDY4 may be the two top movies of next summer.

Iron Man will do good- BB bank, most likely, and then if it's just as good it will have a huge bump in it's sequel like I'm sure TDK will.

remember please that BB wasnt recieved as well at the box office as it was hoped. Im not sure the public liked BB as much as we did.

It wasn't received well because of the lack of marketing by WB.

the opening weekend doesnt judge anything, the movie had legs and the DVD sales were fabulous, the word of mouth was spectacular.

TDK will be fuggin huge... its a year away and look at this hype and controversy and originality and intensity with still a year to wait...!

We went to see the Simpsons today, but our theater didnt show the teaser...

Down-loaded it here at the house, and my wife and daughter (who i guess count as "general audience" members), thought it was cool. I thought it was good as well.
