trust me, Transformers the Movie Part 2's teaser will be more of what you are looking for in a teaser (cause they will have to work harder to tease you next time around), Paramount and Dreamworks just wanted to get the word out to the general public that this Transformers movie was in development. The general masses, the kind of people that don't spend most of their lives on message boards...

Personally I like the way the Megatron bit is so brief . . . I'm surprised the Beagle got any footage of him at all. I know this is most likely not a part of the film [unless it gets mentioned by one of the military characters in dialogue], but the camera shakiness added to it's authenticity. Also, the shot of the pod headed to the Mars surface isn't stock footage, or do You know it is?

At first I didn't like how M. B.'s name was under the TransFormers letters when I first saw it over at "youtube", but in the official version it says "A MICHAEL BAY FILM". Still looks kinda tacky . . . especially to those of us who aren't quite fond of this director just yet, but i can live with it.

Imagine, that when all this is said, and done [film comes out, DVD comes out, toys come out] . . . this tiny little trailer will be just one more extra thing we'll have to enjoy, or look back to, and say something like: "remember that lame-ass announcement trailer?", or "I remember when I first saw the announcement trailer in the theatre. It got me so hyped back then." etc.

I thought the teaser for this was great, it served its purpose and got an old Transformers fan like me all giddy and excited for it.

Maybe now that the Mars story won't be involved in the film (for whatever reason, now that its in the teaser you'd think they'd follow up on it) we might be seeing Cybertron involved in the film somehow (I hope).

Yeah yeah, the teaser for Spidey 3 was better. But this is the THIRD Spider-man movie. Everyone knows what him and the supporting cast (for the most part) look like.

Now that being said, the rover on Mars is a tad tired. It didn't stand out...the title effects did have more effect than the actual footage. We'll see if more footage of the movie will redeem itself. Its way too early though to tell what kind of movie this will turn out to be though...but the Bumblebee design shows promise.

On the official version of the announcement trailer it is apparent that it doesn't just say the director's name, but "A MICHAEL BAY FILM" . . . I still think it's a little too much for it being just an announcement, but then again I can see that people would wonder: "well who's directing this".

How so? How was that *original* or in any way better than "Transformers?" Have you seen every other B movie in that last 80 years??? Well, IMHO It's cliched.

That "teaser" could have easily been for Red Planet (in fact I think it almost literally was), Invaders from Mars, Martian Chronicles, Plan B From Outer Space, etc.

There was nothing in that "teaser" that evoked "Transformers."



Perhaps.

Because it makes them feel real. And I love how they have continued with the visitors from outer space theme. It was cool watching the flash sequence at the official website with Earth and then a giant Transformer head flashing above as it says: "Their War, Our Planet."

When I was a kid, Transformers were the bomb. Loved them. Still own the Transformers movie DVD. I never really dug the next gen stuff but G1 Transformers are the GREATEST kids animated show ever. Even though the details were fuzzy, it gave me a Decepticon chubby just listening to the robot walk to the rover and then see it for a second.

I hope Michael Bay doesn't screw this up, and I hope they stay somewhat faithful to the G1 Transformers, but either way, giant robots never get old!

Maybe they were on Mars for a mission? Who cares? It's not going to be in the film, so therefore it doesn't matter!

That's the way I interpreted it. It was a warning. They're on their way!

I assume Cybertron still exists, or at least I hope it does. OMG would it look cool as hell to see a CGI'd Cybertron. Or better yet, Unicron!

Again...point missed. So let me clarify it for you.

You mentioned that Mars doesn't have a blue sky like what's seen in the trailer. My point was that, even though Mars has a red atmosphere, it can have a blue sky under certain conditions, which you so helpfully showed that it does. Just like Earth's blue atmosphere turns red under certain conditions.

I'll send you a money order for $50 if you show me one single shot of the Mars sky in the middle of the day that looks like what we saw in that teaser.
