Also, Harry Potter is much, MUCH more than a children's film. It captures the preteen/teen audience perfectly, and thusly, gets tons of parents and little brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles to tag along. You pretty much get the exact same audience for Potter as you do for Pirates.
You really think so? Maybe I can't talk I've only seen one HP movie but to me it seems Pirates has a broader appeal amongst adult audiences. You'll see more groups of guys in their 20's-30's going to see Pirates, couples on dates, larger groups of teens.
