The Dark Knight Teaser with Pirates?!

Actually, it's a little under 2 months.

I keep forgetting it's not the end of May yet. That's what I get for thinking too far ahead.

I think before everyone gets excited, we need to take a look back at the Begins teaser and the context in which it was released.

First of all, the original teaser for Begins was not intended to be released when it was. The reason it was released in July was due to the negative response at Comic Con weeks prior, when the the panel got an unpleasant response due to a lack of footage. (It was Goyer and Murphy, no footage, nothing. Just answering very vague, general questions, much to the disappointment of everyone in attendance.)

It was then decided to rush a teaser to theaters attached to The Village at the end of July. The teaser was quickly thrown together and was NOT up to specs on what was originally intended. (Hence the quick "photos" of Batman at the end). WB wanted absolutely no negative buzz on this film and did it's best to meet the demands of fans.

So, keep in mind that Nolan may wait a while before releasing a teaser, especially due to a later start date than Begins had three years ago. Having said that, if it is released this summer, it may not be for a while yet. As a matter of fact, sometime at or after Comic Con seems most likely.

Keep checking the TDK site, they usually update Tuesday or Thursday around 5-6pm EST.

I'd rather the trailer with Potter than with Pirates, if only because I will see Potter in the theater, and, God willing, I will never set eyes on Pirates 3.

So I would then have to download the TDK trailer to watch it, instead of seeing it on the big screen.

And to people dismissing the Harry Potter movies: I did too, until I actually watched one. Let me tell you, they are VERY good movies and VERY good books, and they are more than just kid's stories. the first couple are aimed at a younger audience, but JK Rowling seems to be smart enough to realize that between books, her audience is growing up, so each Harry Potter book is more mature in subject matter than the one before it - which also makes sense given that the characters are a year older in each story. So they started out at 11 and by the end of "Deathly Hallows" they will be 18.

Each story is not only more adult than the one before it, but darker than the one before it. And while I felt kind of silly watching the first two, by the third one I felt completely different about them. HP5 is a very dark tale indeed.

Fact is that more people will see POTC than Harry Potter and POTC has a slightly broader demographic. TDK needs to and *CAN* get a large older audience, that's it's advantage but it needs appropriate promotion.

I get what you mean about about FP growing up. They seem decent movies and trust me I hate POTC as well but I do think it shares a similar audience with Batman. And it's WB, cheaper rates. The only thing is, what's the point of teasing people a year out from a film? People have short memories.

I could also see them just releasing a teaser (not attaching) around the time of Transformers possibly. That movie will most likely be huge, and one thing you know about a Bay film is that it will most likely have off the wall marketing so the opening weekend numbers will be great no matter what.

I might be late but Jett just said he heard rumblings of a teaser with pirates...

1. The image from the webiste is DEFIENTLY from sort of teaser. The shape of the image clearly shows it.

2. Word is no teaser premiering with Potter.

So if it aint potter, but theres some sort of teaser out there....and rumor is its with pirates....

could we be getting footage next weekend?!?!?!

I just don't know what's going to happen with the TDK. But, know what I am going to see POTC3 next Friday and I will be excited if the TDK pops on the screen.
