Animation Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

The 2003 show was underrated. I loved it as a kid.

“TURTLES COUNT IT OFF!”

Was the animated TMNT reboot with Chris Evans any good? In my mind, I like the Turtles; where should I start with the newer stuff? Any good series worth binging?

TMNT was a really good movie. I’d actually put it second to the OG 1990 movie, but it’s worth a look.

The 1990 film is still perfection. It shouldn't have worked but goddamn did they catch lightning in a bottle.

I still have fond memories of seeing it in the theater and the excitement leading up to it.

I think because they shot it in NYC. It felt real. And the lighting was dark and set the mood. Not bright and polished like the newer movies.

Actually they filmed most of the movie in a studio in North Carolina. Even the rooftops and the subway that led to the Turtles home were sets. That blew my mind!

But yeah they did a great job at making the city a character, just as much as they did the Turtles and the Foot. That movie is the perfect blend of staying faithful to the Mirage comics and the cartoon.

A lot of comic book movies could’ve taken some pointers from that one.

Well damn they did a great job of making it look real and blending it in with exterior shots. I wished the fights were a little bit better in the first one but understandably you can only do so much in a rubber suit.

You can definitely see the influence that Tim Burton's Batman had on it. That film was released a year before, but proved that comic book movies could have the darker atmosphere, and retain the fun while appealing to kids and adults.

Which then all got thrown out of the window for Secret of the Ooze lol

I'm glad you brought up the 1989 Batman, because I still think the reason we got a dark TMNT film (ESPECIALLY in contrast to the cartoon at the time), was because it was filmed during the Batman era and that period where superheroes were getting darker takes. I liked that they leaned into the Mirage comics.

I never knew that part about the movie being filmed in North Carolina. And on soundstages! For such a set-driven movie, you never get that feeling because of how greatly they captured New York City.

So we thinking we’re getting adult actors, or actual teenagers for the Turtles’ voice work? Celebrity or veteran voice actors?

The turtles themselves I feel could go either way, actual teenagers or adults that can disguise their voices to sound as young as possible. But I would really love to see some A-listers as Splinter and Shredder!

I'm actually curious if Seth Rogen will end up playing a character.

Question, Ninja turtles "CG" film 2020's.... does that mean Live action with "CG" turtles or another Animated film?

I am hoping it’s a mixed bag, they are obviously taking a break from the live action format for a while so hopefully GA response and fan response is enough to warrant this new film more than one

I actually would like them to resemble kids instead of 20 somethings or early 30s . Like I want them to be short and childish like the 80s and 2012 cartoon.

also please for the love of everything holy don’t make there designs busy. Ninja turtles don’t need a bunch of stupid chains or tech all over there body. They are ninja. They are the definition of less is more. I absolutely hate when they play with the design.

also I hate the durag type bandannas they sometimes give them. It brings the look way down

it’s a damn shame the film doesn’t get enough credit. I think the sequels probably played a part in making everyone think the first one was just as silly as the rest. The 1990 movie is a masterpiece in quality imo and to this day the turtles look real.

the official posters on YouTube for the 1990 film and other places are those horrible disgusting turtles 3 designs. Shows how disrespected the movie is

Wtf? I don’t think we need two separate Ninja Turtles movies.

one will no doubt be a streaming release...
personally... I feel they are trying too hard in the wrong places

better make sure, that his wife will get a high salary and not a cutoff of the BO this time…
You don’t know what virus will eat her millions next time
