There are a number of reasons to think twice (or three times, or four times, or fifty times) before sending a nude photo of yourself to someone electronically. But, if you're under the age of 18, there's at least one big, glaring, serious reason: you and the recipient could be charged with trafficking child pornography. If you think this sounds crazy, it is exactly what happened in Greensburg, Pennsylvania after two teenage girls send nude photos to some teenage boys.

Two girls from Greensburg, who police say are "14 or 15" years old, allegedly sent nude photos to two boys who are slightly older than them (16 or 17) using their cell phones. The photos were discovered in October after one of the youngsters was caught using a cell phone during school hours—a violation of school rules—and had the phone taken away. The photos were discovered at that time—I didn't know teachers could go snooping through your cell phone, either—and turned over to police.

Its stupid to charge them for sending pictures of themselves. You cannot victimize yourself.

Perhaps the teacher saw a pic while behind the students and then took the phone

Once they hit that 13th year, kids check their brains at the door.

Yes and no, a 12 yr old girl got in big trouble and a almost a dozen students that had pics of her topless here. Kids and teens need to know that type of behavior isn't acceptable and those pics never go away once they load up on the net-so it can bite them on the ass years later

The kids were probably showing it off and talking about it in class. That or some kind of tattle-tell decided to inform someone...

I cannot believe that people actually do this. I mean I'm no prude, but there is no way that I would ever send pictures of myself to anyone over a cellphone, the internet, whatever.

Haha, glad my phone was never taken from me in High School. I would have been doing some serious jail time.

I have :o

I guess I just don't understand the point of it. This new generation of teens puts anything and everything out there. I agree with what has been said earlier in the thread - today's teens check their brains at the door.

When you're a teenage girl, logic does not factor into any equations. As much as any of them deny, most of the **** they do is to get attention from boys that aren't even really worth the effort.

It's not a matter of prude, it's a matter of how stupid you are. How often do people get in trouble for photos on cameras or phones or whatever?

How often do under age kids get laid without getting in trouble? Probably more often.

So what did we learn?

If you must do this, stop showing other people....you stupid voyeur idiots.

Charges on "kiddie porn"? Really? :funny:

There needs to be some revision of that law when all parties involve teens, especially ones around the same age.

The behaviour may be irresponsible, but the fact of the matter is, should these kids be charged and convicted with a fairly serious sexual offence (enough to get you registered as a sex offender in many jurisdictions) because of this? The answer is no, and unfortunately almost all child porn laws are constructed in a way that makes these cases very possible.

when all parties are underage it shouldnt be a problem. Thats like charging a 16 year old with "statutory rape" because he had sex with a consenting 15 year old girl.

This story is hot!

I mean offensive!

It is illegal for a teen girl to photograph HERSELF naked?
If its illegal for a teen to look at a naked teen, then it should be child rape to have sex with that teen...so which one do you charge with rape if they're both underage?

I understand if the boys father saw the pictures, put them up on the internet etc...I even understand if the teens put them up on the internet...but this draws a weird legal line where a teen boyfriend could be arrested for seeing his teen girlfriend naked.

What nozy *** teacher has the right to go through a phone??? I would sue for invasion of privacy. It is even more ridiculous to charge the teens that received the pictures against their will and for the ones that took pictures of themselves naked.

Ohhhh but I bet the judge will have fun reviewing the evidence WINK WINK. He/she should be charged with viewing child pornography.

Ridiculous. Underage girls sending pictures of themselves to underage boys is not child pornography. They're ALL underage. If adults were involved somehow, THEN it becomes child pornography. This is idiocy and crap like this tying up our courts is killing our society. Nice to know that teachers respect their student's privacy by going through their personal cell phones, though.

Exactly. Uploading the pictures on the internet is something id consider a crime. Id even consider it a crime if one of the teens were to show their 20 year old brothers or whatever.

The biggest crime here is that the school system sees itself as police...who without a warrant can search through peoples private property.

Recieving text messages are not something that the person recieving can control. id LOVE to go a week without my cell phone company texting me offers to spend more money...but now the act of unknowingly recieving something that isnt even illegal for you to have is a crime.

I would love to be the defense attorney for this case:o
