Tekken 7

don't say that to project pat, he'll tell you it's nonsense

but anyways yeah, back in the last gen most people definitely played ME on xbox since that was its platform of origin, but I think it's safe to say a lot of people who had 360s bought Ps4s, so ME fans are probably more spread out between the two consoles now. I was just saying because ME started off as an xbox exclusive, I would say it wouldn't be an unfair move for mS to try and gain exclusive rights to Me4 because of their history.
I know you don't mind seeing games going exclusive that originated on, or were almost unanimously associated with a certain console. I don't like it on the big games once they go multiplat to revert but it's just different preferences and these decisions are taken for economic reasons which is fair enough. But sometimes I don't even agree with the economic reasons lol.

so it looks like Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has been added to X1 BC.

plus a few Soul Calibur games ( though no V yet ).

so hopefully that's a sign Bandai Namco is willing to work with the X1 and that Tekken 7 has a chance of coming to the X1.

Ha, I'm just messing with ya, nothing wrong with having youth on your side!
I'm not young like I used to be bruh

It's a personal want and issue rather than anything else. The corporations have the right to do as they please. Maybe Tekken wouldn't be successful on X1 anyway. I can't know that but I'll lose interest in what was one of my favourite franchises if it happens and I usually buy every game in a franchise for life once I'm in so I'm loyal at least lol.

If Street Fighter hadn't been on pc I would have moved on from that too (those were my 2 big beat'em ups as a teenager). There's too much choice in leisure nowadays for big risks to be taken by the big companies and their userbase and Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo can all attest to what happens when you get casual with goodwill built up having each alienated their fans with dumb moves at some stage in the last couple of generations.
I can guarantee if T7 released on xbone it definitely wouldn't have sold as good on Ps4. Ps3 was already getting its ass handed by 360, but T6 & Tag 2 still sold better on Ps3.

This time around Ps4 is a juggernaut, and a lot of fighting games are exclusive to it already.

lol well if you don't agree with the economic reasons I dunno what to tell ya. You don't wanna take a loss. splinter cell 5 was a console exclusive to 360, there's just another example.

i think so.

in reality, though, I'm not that big of a Tekken 7 fan. so if it never comes to the X1, it won't bother me.

I'm more interested in the next Soul Calibur game, tbh. So, I'm hoping that comes to the X1, especially now that the X1 has several SC games as BC ( but not SC V yet ).

the other fighting franchise I'm interested in is Injustice. I know that Injustice was a PS4 exclusive, but I'm hoping Injustice 2 will be multiplat just like MK X was.

more to the fact, do you even still have an xbone? i don't see why you'd care from the get go

no I don't have an X1 right now, but I'm open to getting one again.

especially if I feel the need to have to trade in my PS4 for a PS4K or whatever. if I have to do that, I might just switch to the X1 instead, since the X1 has more functionality that I want.

that extra functionality has also become more appealing in recent weeks because I have several old devices that are starting to breakdown ( including an ancient Windows XP laptop that I was using for browsing ) and the X1 would effectively replace all of those devices.

so, while I don't have an X1 now, I am open to giving it another chance. and if I were to do that, there are certain fighting games like SC and Injustice 2 that I would like to see on it. And I'd prefer those over Tekken 7, which I can do without.

geez yo, I guess there is no lesson learned from the past huh?

it's not just you because i've had my fair share of returning & rebuying the same products too

mS was the one to talk about incremental upgrades in the first place though. if sony is doing it, the rest of them will probably follow suit.

time heals all wounds..........:o :oldrazz:

but yeah, I am wary about getting another X1. but as I've said, circumstances have changed in the last few weeks or in the last month or so. So, I'm more "open" to the idea of getting another X1.

and I'm eager to see if MS responds with an upgraded X1. but I just saw an article saying Spencer has no plans for an X1.5 or whatever.

anyways, don't want to take this thread off topic.

mS talked about incremental upgrades first

but then recently pulled another 180

yeah, the 2nd article is the one I read.

and honestly, I agree with Spencer.

if MS and Sony want to make iterative/upgradeable consoles, do that with the Xbox 2 and PS5 - do that with the next gen of consoles. I have no problem with that and I'd actually support that.

But they made the current consoles how they are, and they shouldn't change them midstream. it would only fracture the customer base.

and again, I don't want to turn this thread into a discussion about iterative hardware - we already have threads for that.

what? why is it okay to do it in the future?

Look at phones at the beginning and end of last gen (crappy Nokia to iPhone 5/6). Technology moves a lot faster these days. Eitehr they keep console generations to 5 years or so or they do something else to extend their lifeline.

because the new consoles would be designed to be upgradeable from the start. which they aren't right now.

and to clarify, I'm not saying I want them to adopt a yearly ( or every 2 years ) console upgrade cycle like the smartphone market. I don't want to have to buy a new, slightly more powerful console every few years or so.

I would support the idea that the next gen consoles are designed to be upgradeable.

for example, you can open up a port and pop in more memory like you can with a PC.

or, there's an "expansion port" that you can open ( similar to the N64 and Sega Saturn ) and pop in an expansion pack to boost the graphics hardware or whatever.

I'd support something like that - not a yearly upgrade cycle like the smartphone market.

Ohhh I see what you're saying. You mean that instead of having to buy a new iterative console, the console that you buy, you can just open it up and upgrade it yourself.

That would be better yeah.

at the same time though that's becoming even more, exactly like PC gaming. it's like, there's the windows-PC platform, then there's the xbox-PC platform, the playstation-PC platform, and the nintendo-PC platform (if what we're talking about is what the reality is for the future). unless all the parts would be proprietary, and I wouldn't like that either.

that may be true.

but as I've said before, these devices are already becoming more PC like.

and even if the upgrade components are proprietary, that would still be a lot more convenient than having to buy a brand new $400-$500 console every year or so.

the new consoles can be designed as such that all you have to do is open a slot on the back or underneath the console, remove the existing component ( memory, gpu, etc. ) and put in the upgrade unit.

And these upgrade units ( even if proprietary ) cost about $80-$100 each. something like that.

so, as games in the mid or late cycle require more power ( for example, the box could say "requires at least 10 GB of RAM" ), you'd have to go out and buy the upgrade unit for around $80-$100, and then open up the slot in the console, remove the old unit, and put in the new unit.

it could be designed to be simple and straightforward enough for non tech users, which is the appeal of a console.

and spending $80-$100 on upgrade units every few years or so to essentially extend the life of the console is a heck of a lot better than having to spend $400-$500 to upgrade to a new console.

in terms of the actual hardware yes they're more PC like, but the console market to this day has remained the same. and even if it's proprietary that still means mandatory hardware upgrades for the best quality every 2-3 years and i'm not with that.

Looking good.

Some of these new costumes are kinda fug, but then so were some of the new looks for the SF gang in Street Fighter 5.

Even the new people kinda got screwed. Lots of Laura's alts make her look like a DoA character.

Fighting games have been getting uglier and uglier imho, with a few exceptions. Graphics might be getting better but the quality of their art direction sure as hell hasn't been improving.

A reflection of their ugly player base, probably. :oldrazz: I kid, I kid... partially.
