Terminator: Genisys - Part 3

Is it too early to call this movie a mess? Yes. Will that stop me? Not sure.

I have to commend the people behind this first reveal, it's been the worst for a tentpole in recent memory. That takes effort.

:hehe:

It takes a special someone to make Emilia Clarke look completely unappealing and that promo shot of her screaming did the job alright.

The whole thing that made Michael Biehn as Reese so sympathetic (at least to me) was he wasnt this stereotypical buff action hero type. I mean, he was in good shape I guess, but Arnold would beat the **** out of him.

He seemed like a regular guy who was vulnerable. Now this so called Reese just looks like the exact kind of generic buff square jawed dumb muscle that Biehn wasnt.
I agree. Biehn looked like he just stepped out of a nightmare future war and had been through hell.

He looked hungry, he looked like he had not slept in a while, he seemed desperate and devoted to his mission at all costs.

Michael Biehn sold the role well.
Popernator.

I need your walker, dentures and dressing gown.

I liked Jai Courtney in A Good Day to Die Hard. Although the movie itself was crap. I wanted him to be Aquaman actually.

Matt Smith is playing the T-1000, btw.

Are you sure? He's wearing a resistance uniform similar to John Connor's on the EW cover. I'd say it's a safe bet that he's a soldier from the future.

Drew McWeeny, who has read the script, strongly hinted it.

There are lots of reports that Byung-hun Lee is cast as the T-1000 (which makes perfect sense to me), but I've yet to read a report that says Smith was up for the role.

Biehn had that wiry and sinewy yet lithe and athletic build going on which [along with his facial features and hair] wouldve made for a great Spider-Man back in the day imo. Anyone who's seen Rick Leonardi's Spidey [either 616 or 2099] knows what I'm talking about.

I love Biehn.

Loved his Reece and Hicks [definately a better Hicks than Remar would have been - effortlessely cool] and was the best character in the Abyss. Wouldve been interesting to see his Quaritch.

Those EW covers are actually making me cringe.

I know EW has a history of bad photoshops but these can't be real.

LOL.

I refuse to believe it! :hehe:

I don't blame the actors for those insanely awful pictures, I blame EW.

Do they actually look at them before they publish them? Who thinks they make anything look appealing?

The only one who sort of looks okay is Jason Clarke. Jai Courtney looks like Stephen Dorff meets Timothy Spall.

I think the studio would now rather want people talking about the leaked plot then fans making fun of this stuff from EW

This one is particularly bad.

Matt Smith looks like he's just dropped acid and is hallucinating that the person he's shooting is actually a giant slice of chocolate cake.

He looks like a character from How To Train Your Dragon. He looks animated, and not particularly well.

He looks about as intimidating as a small fuzzy puppy. This is the guy they get for a T-1000?

Maybe it is, I thought somebody in the last few pages said it was Smith.

Oh yes, it's pretty damn bad.

It is genuinely surprising to see "Terminator: Genisys" on the cover of this week's "Entertainment Weekly." After all, this represents the third attempt to start a new trilogy of "Terminator" films, and the last fumble was made by Warner Bros, whose parent company owns and publishes "Entertainment Weekly," while the new film is being released by Paramount, a competitor.

Then again, looking at the pictures they used on the cover, maybe "Entertainment Weekly" knew exactly what they were doing, because they are profoundly unflattering shots of the cast, including a grinning Terminator, a weird decision since everyone else has on their "this movie is really serious" faces. And the article inside has set off a massive recoil from fandom, which certainly wasn't how Paramount was hoping to kick off their next nine months of promoting the film before its release.

:lmao:

Byung Hun Lee as a T-1000 is the only thing that sounds good to me about this project so far and I just found that out 30 seconds ago.

I just don't get the Jai Courtney hate. I mean, yeah, he's been in some crap movies lately, but I thought he was a standout in Spartacus (full of that "heart" y'all are suggesting Kyle Reese needs that he lacks), and was very effective in a completely different role in Jack Reacher. Seems like he has some decent roles coming up with Felony, Unbroken and The Water Diviner, too.

I mean, saying the completely monotone Sam Worthington would be better even though he couldn't even do an American accent to save his life? Really?

That said, everyone looks terrible in these photos. These are really terrible photos, lol. This movie's really not looking promising at all. Not that I'm surprised.
I don't hate Courtney I just think that he has been totally miscast.
