Tomorrowland wasn't bad, I just think it wasn't what people expected. Bird's direction was good, but the thing was a little experimental.
No, it wasn't experimental at all.

I think people expected a good movie because of the director's track record, can't fault people for expecting that.

7. the leads. I haven't seen Jai in anything, but all I keep hearing is he is a terrible actor and I see the logic behind casting Emilia (to get the got crowd to watch the movie), but everyone who has seen got knows she is laughable in this type of tough girl roles, so they probably avoided the movie because of her. I know I did, I would have watched if Brie was cast.

they should have cast Brie and a big name actor in Kyle's role to put butts in seats, but in order to get a big name actor to sign on you need to have a good script, and well...

That she did. Brie is too good for a half baked Terminator movie.

The new trilogy synopsis revealed!

Terminator 6: The Wild West.

Skynet sends a cowboy terminator to kill Sarah Connor's mid-West ancestors. But, a herd of cattle impales the terminator and the mission fails.

Terminator 7: The Fruit of Eden

Skynet creates a Terminator that can reproduce and sends the machine back in time to the ages of Adam and Eve! The Terminator attempts to swoon Eve and give birth to little robotic babies to take over the world.

Can't wait.

The budget has been reported as $170 million since last October, but the studio released a lower figure of $155 million last week.

This was likely a reflection of tax credits and an attempt to lower expectations heading into opening weekend. It's also not clear whether it accounts for the numerous re-shoots the film had to undergo, which were rumored to inch the budget closer to $200 million.

While I did enjoy the movie (nothing amazing but enjoyable, better than 3 & 4), it baffles me to read how high the budget was. The movie looked alright, but similar to Jurassic World, it baffles me when a movie from 92/93 looks much better than one from 2015. Terminator 2 looks much better, and while it had a high budget for its time, it's still fascinating.

I guess real filmmaking is getting more rare, because it's more relaxing to do tons of CGI and sit in a studio.

Finally got to see this last night, it was at best mindless entertainment for me. It's a travesty the franchise has fallen to that from the semi-intellectual entertainment that was T1/T2, but at least it was fun to watch and had barely a dull moment.

JK Simmons' character definitely added to the movie, but I would've preferred the return of the Dr. Silberman character over JK Simmons. Certainly felt like JK Simmons was channeling the Dr. Silberman character at certain points too.

And it kinda seemed like the filmmakers created the opportunity for re-casting Arnold's Terminator when he got [blackout]T-1000-upgraded[/blackout], which would be a welcome change for any possible future installments, however unlikely that might be with the box office.... :p

I haven't seen the movie but I think the idea of [blackout]Arnold getting the T-1000 upgrade[/blackout] is completely stupid. T2 was awesome because the T-800 was outmatched by a Terminator with superior tech. It made the unstoppable horror monster of the first movie into an underdog in the second movie. That was what was so brilliant about it.

Thank christ for that. Larson dodged a bullet.

I agree with this. And also it makes no sense why he would necessarily remain looking the way he does unless for sentimental reasons.

We've had 4 movies with Arnie as the T-800, so it honestly doesn't bother me that they are trying to change things up with him as a T-1000 moving forward. If anything, the T-1000 is starting to get a bit obsolete after all the newer models we've seen since T2, so he'll still be outmatched quite easily IMO, but at least it gives them some chances to do new things with Arnold's character. Now you're not just restricted to a buff guy being thrown through walls.

Plus, they can use CGI to show the Young Arnie and chalk it up to his shape changing .abilties

Agreed, I think they needed to change things up a bit moving forward and in fairness even a T-1000 would be outmatched against the TX and the bad Terminator in this movie.

As for why he didn't change appearance, his whole chasis was pretty much thrown into the liquid metal so not all of it may have melted. But even so, if a sequel happens they can use the de-aging effect on him anyway.

Heh. I just watched Half in the Bag and they say the next one should be the wild west.

I lost it when they said the terminator should try to mount a horse then the horses legs give out.

question. why is the T-3000 holding Arnold around the neck? and why is Arnold looking like it hurts him?
