Courtney has a solid niche as jerk personality villains as seen in Jack Reacher, Divergent and I, Frankenstein.

Courtney just comes off as bland and forgettable in everything else I've seen him in like Unbroken and Spartacus.
I really liked him in the earnest best friend role in Spartacus, but I agree he does a good job as more villainous characters as well. I think ISS is right that he's not "leading man" material. But that doesn't mean he's a bad actor, because I don't think he is. He could have a very nice career in supporting roles, imo. Colin Farrell's not a very good "leading man" type, but he's turned out to be a fantastic actor when he's not trying to play the traditional hero role. Courtney might do well to follow that example.

Just saw it, i enjoyed it. It wasn't as good as the first two but it certainly wasn't awful.

The audience i was in really liked it, they were laughing and some clapped at the end.

It seems quite a few fans are liking it, seeing it for myself Tuesday, hope I have the same reaction, thought I am a HUGE fan of T2 and especially T1.

I still wish Arnold would return to the Predator franchise. That's one franchise that has proven it can't really be successful without him, and his return to it would actually make sense (more than an aging robot, anyway).

Predators: Budget $40 million/Box office $127 million. And it was pretty damn good.

I saw another preview of this the other day where Jason Clarke was sort of reciting Kyle Reese's lines from the first Terminator film, only speaking them about himself. "I can't be reasoned with; I don't feel pity, I won't stop until the machines win, blah blah blah."

Anyone know if that's actually in the movie, or if it's just some dumb marketing ploy to lure fans of the original in?

As long as some fans are enjoying this I am hopeful it will be at least enjoyable.

It made that much? I had no idea.

Anyway, I liked Predators. Though it felt a little constrained by the budget. I mean, when you name a movie "Predators" you just assume that there's going to be legion of these monsters after the heroes. The previews even made it look that way with that one scene where they showed Brody's character covered in laser sights. But in the actual movie, it was only one sight.

Yeah. And from what I remember it killed in home release sales too. Just goes to show when you have a writer, director and producer on board first and foremost who give a ***** you can make a solid franchise relaunch/continuation even on a small budget. But when studios decide which franchises need "new" takes with dollar signs in their eyes and no creative force driving the train it mostly backfires.

Agreed about the lack of a Predator army. But what can you do with a budget like that ya know. IMO it was still the best Predator movie since the first one.

I think it is a lot easier to enjoy if you are a general fan. I enjoy the Terminator franchise but am not a die hard fan. It certainly had it flaws but I would buy it on dvd.

It's funny though that now both of Game of Thrones leading ladies have played the role of Sarah Connor.

I believe that was in there.

I am wondering if this is the end of the franchise for now, there really isn't anywhere they can go now without doing a hard reboot. But whenever we do get another Terminator film, they should get some kickass writers on it.

Totally agree with you there. It was much better than Predator 2 or those awful AVP films.

Having just come home from seeing it i have to say i feel some are being unfair to it.

let's get it out of the way yes it's not as good as first 2 terminator films.having said that i feel it's classic compared to salvation and better than T3

Yeah Jai COurtney and emilia clarke were miscast.they will never reach what Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton did.

I felt humor was handled better than In T3.

My advice is kind of look at this as reboot that keep arnold that pays heavy homage to first 2 films.

Watched the first two last night. Haven't watched them back to back in years. Zod, they are so good. So many forget how human the movies are. They are basically love stories. One between man and a woman, other between parents and their children. I almost forgot how much of a crush I had on Hamilton's Sarah. :funny:

as expected. after the negative reaction people are watching this with low expectations.

be a badass and watch movies without reading reviews and comments on internet. and then lets see if TG is good or bad.

the blinking is the last thing you should be concerned about when it comes to her performance

If she or the film can't be bothered to make her look like she has experience firing a weapon than why would I expect the rest of her performance to be any better?

Clarke doesn't seem to come across like she was raised by a Terminator to be prepared for the end of the world. She looks like a chick trying to act tough, instead of a chick who IS tough because she was brought up that way. Footage of her blinking while firing her weapon destroy my sense of disbelief and make me not buy into the character she is supposed to be playing. It reminds me that I am watching a movie instead of getting lost in the story. Do you understand what I am saying?

Who said Legend of Conan would only cost $20 mil.?

Regardless. It's not about whether they can afford it, it's about whether they think it's worth investing in, and its profit potential (and more often, it's about how much money the deals in and of themselves can generate prior to any production). And if one has developed a recent rep of not making a profit, well...

Did you know movies have a better chance of making a profit if they have a lower budget? Shocking I know.

Too be fair, studios aren't looking for minimal profit. Hench why they are willing to spend $200m. For the chance to make double that in clean profit. They don't have much use for $10m.

If they made a Conan movie that cost $20m in production, they'd need to make $130m+ to break even.

It seemed like the way they taking Sarah in this movie was her trying to fight against her future, though I would have had them have gramps make contact with Sarah 2 years ago in the past instead of at the age of 9 and her still trying to figure out the whole being tough thing.

The theme song is awesome:

But it's just a note for note remake of the T2 opening credits.

Elfman missed the mark big time for me on Salvation, but the opening credits score was interesting and memorable to me. I couldn't remember a single second of Terminator 3's score.

No. The original plan was for this to be the first film in a trilogy.

Yes, he does say something like that famous speech in the new film.

Jai Courtney helped damage the Die Hard franchise, and it's happening with Terminator, too. He is terrible.

Emily Blunt and Paul Walker (RIP) would've been great as Connor and Reese.

Just saw this, I'd rather watch any of the other movies before even thinking of sitting through this again.

Really hope that doesn't happen. I don't know if I would even Redbox it.
