I liked the movie...solid 8 for me. There were definitely some flaws but overall they did very well with this movie. I wasn't expecting much after the bad reviews started pouring in...I hear the critics concerns...but I'm a big fan of the mythologies of Terminator and its definitely open to other interpretations and this film hit all the right notes with me. meaning it doesn't need Arnold to be a Terminator movie and it doesn't need to involve time travel. Exploring the future war was great...this film, even for being pg13 was pretty dark.

If only the focus had been on John Connor this would have been great...but where mcg lacks in storytelling he made up for with the big action and fx...perhaps there is room for improvement but i wonder who'll be up to the task...because this one really needs to find a new audience and not just the longtime fans...

I don't think James Cameron will like the movie...but I'm sure he'd give it an A for effort...and thats gotta count for something...

Sam Worthington...though I wasn't big on his storyline was great...Anton Yelchin as Reese was spot on. Bale as Connor...acceptable but not the only person who could have played...but I'm sure glad he did. Common had some pretty badly delivered lines...Moonbloodgood was hot...nuff said.

We basically get 2 really epic action sequences...the rest is sprinkled and quickly edited here and there...it keeps things moving but it didn't help you just settle in and get into it...Mcg...like Zack Snyder with Watchmen...does not know how to hold suspense and capture real drama and emotion...

Final thought...if they were gonna be this true to Term with fans...then it should have been R. There I said it...in this case...it was a missed opportunity but I understand that if they're gonna want to pull in more money...it needed to have a pg13 rating.

so as a fan...I can award an 8...but if it were any other movie and not Terminator related...7 or high 6.

PS Elfman's score did the movie no favors....none.

Well Rishi would be wrong. T1 and T2 didn't have gore and guts being thrown all over the place but those movies certainly earned their rated "R" status. Stuff like the T-800 sticking his arm through a guy and having it covered in blood isn't going to make it into a PG-13 movie. The T-1000 sticking his butcher-knife arm through a guy's mouth and a carton of milk isn't going to make it into a PG-13 movie. Same goes for The T-1000 sticking his needle-like finger through a cop's eye.

also, the police station attack in T1. it wasn't bloody or gory, but the way it was shot and the incredible dark score for that scene. it sent chills down my spine in the theater and it still does. I just couldn't see that sequence in a PG-13 film.

This isn't going to pull in more money though.

This movie is so bad it won't do more than Terminator 2.

He's 15. That pretty much explains his sig as far as I'm concerned. :o

I remember I said something to him about his sig. As much as I like Dark Knight, it's not some huge concert from the counter culture movement. I mean, maybe from a nerd movement.

But you made it abundantly clear that you had made up your mind about the film long before you had even seen it. That kind of invalidates your opinion.

Huh? I had a gut feeling that I would like this movie. I knew I was going to like it, and I did. This movie was everything I expected and MORE.

It's not my fault people had completely different expectations walking into this movie.

After watching it, I tried to come up with criticisms or things I did not like, and there wasn't much because overall I was very satisfied with it.

So because I was expecting this to be a good movie, it invalidates my opinion? What about all the people that made up their minds about this movie before seeing it because they're on the Bale-hate bandwagon, and on the McG-hate bandwagon? A lot of the negative reviews don't even legitimately talk about the movie, but mostly just bash Bale and McG. Does that not invalidate their opinion?

I stated in my review thoroughly the reasons why I liked it, and listed a few things that I didn't like.

so the check from warner finally cleared? :whatever:
seriously, the film has been trashed by ALL reputable critics. the only good reviews i've seen online are from youtube. it's a failure. i thought i was watching the phantom menace with the wooden acting. where was jake lloyd at? as for mcG, he should stick to music videos. the best sequence was the harvestor part........and even bay would've done that it better.

What a detailed and thorough write-up on your thoughts about the movie :whatever:.

So most critics hate it ... that means I have to hate it too and it makes it a bad movie? Get a grip. Critics hated Watchmen, and I loved Watchmen.

I despised Hairspray, but hey critics loved it, so it must be a good movie right :whatever:?

Critics hated this movie, and you don't like either. User and fan reviews for this movie have been pretty good, and I loved it personally so too bad.

That's your opinion. I thought it was a bad movie, but once again it's my opinion. Everyone has different opinions.

Maybe musicals aren't your thing, but it was a good movie. I don't know you very well at all, but I have to question your taste.

Question it all you want. I just thought it was a bad movie, and that's my opinion. I'm not a huge musical fan, but I can appreciate musicals. I thought Sweeney Todd was a good movie. Hairspray to me was not.

Maybe, TDK is my Comic Con? :D

The movie did exactly what it set out to do...create a post apocalyptic world full of doom and gloom. John was just as I fugured...a battle hardened man with no room for compassion (mostly), his job is to keep humanity together in order to save it. There is no room for things like joy, or mourning. Only hate towards the machines...it's the only way to win.

The movie delivered what I thought it would.

Agreed. That is exactly the character of John in this movie, as it should be, and Bale played John very well.

But I want more :csad:
I want to be in tears when the trilogy finally ends...
When we finally see Connor victorious...
When we finally see all those extended scenes filmed where they find the defunct terminators and send Kyle and one of the Terminators back in time...

If you think about it...he's alot like how Sarah was in T2.

oooh. Good point! I didn't think of that. She was all business. She had a job to do and didn't let anything come in the way...heck, she treated her own son like a soldier...not as a son until towards the end.

I think this movie came out at the WRONG time...this wasn't a summer popcorn flick. Spider-man is...not Terminator. It should have come out in the fall.

Movie did exactly what it set out to do ********

This was supposed to be the start of a future war series of Terminator movies. Well if this movie fails and there aren't any followups then it did NOT do what it set out to do.

McG in EW said, "The old McG is dead!" WRONG!

I really hope it does well because I really, really want to see the huge battles that were teased in the first two movies.

New female child Sidekick for T5
Terminator: Little Miss Connor

EDIT:

TheVileOne.... hmmmm...
Quite the fitting user name for a negative, dirty mouthed fiend like you....

Since when critics like Peter Travers and James Berardinelli are not reputable?

Peter Travers isn't :p .

Regardless of critics, the movie is going to ridiculously underperform. It won't even cross $200 million US.

You know.... everybody's a critic...
Roger Ebert LOVED the Garfield movies... but HATED Star Trek
So ya... he doesn't control the movies I watch

I love the hype, reviews only matter when they agree with my opinion.

One question? when Marcus got punched in the heart by the T-800 shouldn't that of done enough damage to kill him off completely beyond the grave plus if there wasn't that whole revival scene then John Connor wouldn't of gotten distracted and the T-800 wouldn't of caused severe injuries too him.
