IMO. This movie is for Terminator fans.
I'm a big Terminator fan, but I don't know if what you said is a good thing. Wasn't T2 for everyone ? Just like the new Star Trek which I really liked seems to appeal to everyone and not just the core base ?

the sloppy editing and pacing is obvious from the various clips we've received. I don't need to see the movie to be aware of McG's directing "style".
How can you tell about a movie's pacing let alone editing from short 1 to 2 minute clips?
I'm curious what Roger Ebert writes. He's a strange bird sometimes. He's one of the very few critics who didn't like Star Trek, but gave Knowing a glowing review. I remember he was one of the handful of critics who gave Bale's Equilibrium a positive review. You never know with him.
Ebert definitely is a wild card, IIRC he gave positive reviews for both Garfield movies.

Made the decision to check out 'Rotten Tomatoes' just recently to see if they have pulled in some reviews... Well, let's just say that once I saw that 17% meter... My hype for this film suddenly dropped. I think I may pull a double-bill with some friends Thursday night, in case this film is the tragedy that the critics are making it out to be.

It's going to take atleast 50 reviews to know where this thing is going reviews wise. I'm going to be checking MetaCritic as well as Rotten Tomatoes. I'm a little surprised about the early reviews for this flick, I expected them to be a little better.

One review that really bothered me was, Screen International, I believe its called. It commented that John is too gruff and dark. It sort of reiterates this fear.

I've been quiet on this movie but I have been following it. One thing I'd like to say is that I really really really hope that John Connor isn't as dark and broody as the trailers make him out to be. I don't want Bruce Wayne. I want John Connor. Based on what we know about the character (which granted, is limited to 2 movies and arguably a television program if you consider TSCC canon)...it is his ability to care that makes him unique and a strong leader. The fact that he wouldn't leave Sarah behind in the mental hospital, the fact that he wouldn't let the T-800 kill, etc. His compassion seems to be what sets him apart from Sarah who had become detatched from the world as a result of her first encounter with the terminator and as a result became just as cold and emotionless as them. I really hope McG places emphasis on John's more human qualities and did not cast Bale because he fits the type cast of the dark, broody, anti-hero which in my opinion would be completely wrong for Connor.

Your acting as if there is only one clip. You can actually detect good/bad editing from clips if your familiar with the process. The way a certain scene transitions or is cut can vary from smooth to jarring.

Mind you, there are only six reviews up so far.

Yeah Matt that is a little worrisome.

I hope Bale isn't just doing Batman without the rubber suit...I'm kinda thinking that he is going to be doing that right now but I hope I am wrong.

I hope the filmmakers didn't forget that John Conner is an inspration.

Yea in the end I wait for my view on the film. But if any of these are some indication, its sad that this film could have been much better, it looked/the script/book felt good, but it may not have come off the best.

Oh well I will still see it and judge for myself as I always do. But sad that it may have been better.

John Connor, in my mind, is a mix of a George Washington type hero, a Leader who inspires men to follow him into battle, because he is almost supernaturally confident that eventually, he will win. the guy at the beginning of T2 was that guy. He wasn't sensitive little Nick Stahl asking the Terminator "...if it remembers him" (my most hated part of that film) or 'You remind me of my Mother" creepiness. I want a brooding 'I never could have an anonymous life" John "I kill things called Terminators" Connor. I don't want a wussy.

It's a simple equation:

McG + writers of Catwoman + movie + stale Bale = BAD!!!

I feel bad for Sam Worthington. He is such a talented actor. But he will shine even in this movie and AVATAR

haven't seen the movie+hate it based on reviews=brainless sheep that can't think for themself

I never see movies make huge turnarounds from their early reviews. I expect this to be in the 40s or less by the time the weekend rolls in.

Either way I'm sure it will be a fun movie, *better then T3* it seems.

And also either way I had fun with everyone on here, it is always fun to get excited, but sad sometimes when they don't always stand up. *of course I will still view/judge for myself*

But as always I plan to give a fair review, I'm not a blind fanboy that just gives good/bad reviews because I have an ego. After seeing it twice I will review/move on as I always do ;)

The Prestige did. It went from a very low RT score to above 70% in one day. Of course, we're talking about a Chris Nolan movie. I think the TS RT score will hover somewhere between 35-45. This may be Bale's lowest RT scored movie since Equlibrium. I wonder if he'll be back even if the movie does well, financially. I know he has a 3 picture deal, but I'm sure he has an escape clause. Big stars usually do.

Maybe, if it is really as dull as the critics make it out to be, Bale (considering he has a huge stake in the project due to his contract) will push for a more character-driven, dynamic story? Who knows really?

I have. Of course it's usually going in the reverse direction. The first dozen reviews or so are all positive and then it takes a header into the ground when tons of negative ones start piling up. AngHulk was the perfect example of this. It had a 100% fresh rating for it's 1st 10 or so reviews. Now it barely skates past 60%.

Hmm, I'm not so sure. T3 still sits quite well in the high 70% range. Well below Cameron's films but still pretty high.
