I say that this franchise is not dead, unlike what others in here are saying. I don't get where the hate is coming from. It's like this 'reviews' thing are becoming a sort of bandwagon. Its like when someone 'knowledgeable' of a certain franchise, in this case, Harry Knowles, says that the movie is bad, others will follow through. It's not as bad as people want it to be. Some reviews I've read were saying that the action scenes didn't compensate for the lack of human emotions,or you will not care for the characters in the film. I say that the action scenes, in a way, does compensate. I say that I do care for the characters.

I went to watching the film expecting to be bored to hell because I've already read some reviews and it turns out that I enjoy it. It's not like I enjoyed it like The Dark Knight or Trek 09. Let's just say that the word 'love' is unlike the word 'like'. Its way better than T3, and it has a lot of respects to the first two films unlike T3.

I think that maybe people just don't get what the story really is because we're following two characters here, John Connor and Marcus Wright. I would say that this is a story about Marcus set in John Connor's world, and that's why it started with Marcus. We already know too much about John's future, and like the Star Wars prequels, it just show the fans what would it be like and how it got there. And the story of Marcus Wright is just thrown in to make it more interesting.

There's a little plot hole that still bugs me, which is the capture of Kyle Reese. In the movie it was never really explained as to how and why they knew John would look for a certain Kyle Reese. Some of us here explained that Skynet gained access to Sarah Connor's files from the Pescadro medical facility, which would still make no sense because as I remember Sarah told the doctors that Kyle is a soldier from the future who would become John's father, so it makes me wonder as to why Skynet doesn't kill him. Maybe we just assumed, like John assumed (which is the way I see it) that Skynet knew who Kyle Reese is. Or maybe Skynet is just as confused like we are to the physics of time altering so they have to make sure that John Connor is killed first before terminating Reese.

My rating for this film would be 8.5 out of 10.

I don't even want to talk about this movie..it made me completely apathetic towards the series.

The third and fourth films both failed at simply being relevant.

Facepalm..if you enjoyed it..then we agree to disagree...

question: near the end of the movie, the lava/melted metal was poured onto the T-800 and it survives, yet it destroyed the T-800 and the T-1000 in T2.

there is no good explanation. please ignore.

They're saying in the other thread that it's a different temperature than what we have in T2. I'm just sharing.

I just think it's a plot hole than anything else. It didn't ruin the movie for though.

I think a bigger plot hole is how Marcus doesn't react to John Connor when he says that Kyle Reese is his father.

he wasn't paying attention when he said that. he was thinking about food.

When you find out the person you think you are died a long time ago, that you're actually a machine, and the man you sought out for help wants to tear you apart...it's safe to say that you're having a bad day and everything else is going to seem much smaller in comparison.

Isn't it a bigger plot whole that Sky Net is able to scan Reese's face even though they've never seen him before, then captures Reese because he's number one on their assassination list, but then holds him to draw Connor into Sky Net so they can kill him. WHEN ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS KILL REESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man I hated this movie. Terminator 1 and 2 are maybe the best sci-fi we've ever had. This movie made T3 look like friggen Shakespeare. McG didn't just kill this franchise, it's like he went back in time and killed it's mother too.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'll never understand how anyone can like T3 with all its plotholes and leaps of logic and cornball jokes more than this.

Well in T2 they were completely submerged in it and never came back up, they were completely drowned in it...they didn't just have a certain amount of it poured onto them as was the case here.

If this one just fell into an entire pool of it and stayed under, I'm sure he'd have melted completely too.

Eh? Yes he does. There's no reaction to Sarah's name, but once Kyle is mentioned, his eyes widen and he takes a big gulp. I saw this immediately.

why doesn't he question that Kyle is the father of John, but Kyle is a teen. It's stuff like that where's I don't think it's subtle filmmaking, but a problem with the direction of the scene. Marcus should have said..something about that.

The problem with this plot is how would the skynet know that John would look for Reese. That's the plot hole.

Most probably because he's thinking "Err....this guy's screwed up in the head". Not everyone speaks what's on their mind. It wasn't exactly integral for a discussion to be made, either. All that does is go through a boring exposition piece.

I don't think everyone is jumping on the knowles bandwagon but if they are that is pathetic.

It had the real Arnie in it. And not a bad CGI one.

It was never mentioned that Skynet knew that Reese's was John's father.

Then:

A) Why was he number one on the assassination list and not Connor?

and B) Why would Sky Net use him to lure John Connor there if they thought he was just some civilian?

Oh, and again C) How the heck did they scan his face to ID him when they've never seen him.

All logic points to the fact that Sky Net knows. Anything else is just making excuses for poor writing.

Talk to the hand.

Yeah. I see your point. But at least it was still Arnie. But for ever "Talk to the hand" we got, we get a "So that's what death tastes like" line. I'd rather a line that knows it's being funny/silly than one that's trying to be serious and comes off terrible.

I didn't think that line came off terrible. Anyways it's not Arnold's fault T3 wasn't that good. However we aren't likely to see him play Terminator again unless some cgi is involved. So we were lucky to see that cameo in Terminator Salvation and it actually made him look scary for the first time since Terminator.
