Terminator: Salvation - The NEW new thread

The Terminator Salvation blu-ray sold 3 times as many copies as Night at the Museum 2 did. But the Night at the Museum 2 DVD barely outsold Terminator Salvation.

who's idea was it to put the director's cut as a blu ray only

MCG's ?

I watched again by myself because I wanted to see some robot action and I watched it 3rd time with my sister because I was bored.

My score has actually gone down for it.

It's just a bland as hell mediocre movie with one too many call backs from the first two flicks.

Christain Bale is still just boring and one note in it. He obviously knew he was playing in a mediocre movie.

Sam Worthington is only okay and makes up a terrible american accent, while Anton Yelchin is better than his okay but he wasn't brillaint or anything. Moon Bloodgood is as bland as ever and the Star character is beyond useless. it's also just a nod to Aliens anyway. Why we needed a nod to Aliens in a Terminator movie is beyond me???

Also Common is a terrible actor who should stick to rapping.

The movie still plays like a collection of scenes and the ending is terrible. The action scenes are good, although there are far too many of them. I liked the ending fight because it reminded me of T2 but in a hallow way.

Danny Elfman's theme music still leaves alot to be desired. The movie overall is just generic as hell and this is coming from an Elfman fan, an Elfman fan who wants him to patch things up with Sam Raimi and score Spider-Man 4.

Anywho, I still see the movie as one big missed opportunity. Some lame duck casting choices, (Bryce would have been a better female lead as she is a far better actress than Bloodgood) McG inability to get better performances out of his actors and a s**tty script from the Catwoman writers just doom the movie.

Revised rating:

6 out of 10.

Formally 7 out of 10.

You must be ignoring my postive posts because I write them.:oldrazz:

I have to admit that your post makes me laugh though.

agreed elfman's score was very genetic, from what i remember i've only watched it once back in june

the only perticular piece i remember from the movie is when marcus is in the water talking to connor the "I'm the only choice u have" part

He was following up Brad Fidels brillaint T2 score and thats the best he could come up with???

Like I said, he is one of my favorites but he dropped the ball on this one. I guess an uninspiring movie led to an uninspiring score.

Elfman's score for Salvationd and Hellboy 2 was just plain awful.

You disliked the HellBoy 2 score too? :awesome:

Personally I hated Hellboy 2 and it's score certainly didn't help matters.

I don't get why Marco Beltrami didn't come back? He came up with a really strong score for the first movie. Was he forced out or was he doing another flick at the time?

The sad thing was that Marco had a theme for Hellboy..it was also used for the Direct-to-DVD films as well.

I went to Q and A session with Del Toro after the screening of HB 2, and he said that he want to go down a different direction with the score with the second film. Whatever that means, I don't know.

BTW, Del Toro is such a nice guy. He's warm, funny, and he stayed for almost 2 hours signing autographs and talking to people at the after party. Doug Jones was there too..very colorful and Selma Blair was hot. HOT in person. Again, very nice.

He seems like he would be a very nice guy. He's also a very talented director...one of my favorites as a matter of fact.

Elfman's lost it...his Spider-man score sucked as well.
I disagree, I liked his Spider-Man score.

That was my biggest peeve with the movie.. no terminator theme? **** you.

I think Common can be a good actor - he was great in Street Kings but here he was average

Eh, I disagree. I think that Common is a very boring one note actor who suffers from akward line delivery.

But then again is there any way to deliver the line, "It works man, the signal works! Its beautiful!" without it sounding bad...haha.

Its not like they gave him anything to really work with. Oh man was that line awful...I actually cringed in the theater when he said that.

Not only were the lines bad, but they also had McG for a director. Considering most of the performances, I'm sure he wasn't a master at directing his actors.

That was an awful line.

Yeah, I loved HB2, great film, but the score for the first movie was just so much better, the main theme and everything was just perfect, why they changed it I dont know, the only part of the Hellboy 2 score I liked was when Hellboy took down the elemental and grass grew all over the street.

Same with Salvation, I liked it to a point, but the score was just severly lacklustre from Elfman, and again didnt keep the main theme.

What is interesting is that in both cases Elfman said he would be keeping the main theme and in both cases didnt.

^Seems that way

Thats good, sound the DVD/BD sales will at least be good, still dont think it does our chances of a sequel much good mind.

I think Danny's ego is too massive to take on someone else's franchise. He's always gonna want to do his own thing. This is why I wasn't jumping up and down when I heard he had the job, even though he is one of my favorite composers still.
