That Thing I Drew That One Time...

Not fan art but a quick tattoo design I drew last night sketched with pencil and a triangle ruler then inked with Pigma Micron and Brush pens. It's been so long since I've hand lettered anything. I feel like I've gotten into the bad habit of lazily using Photoshop to do lettering as it generally takes a fraction of the time.

Looks pretty good to me.

Another older piece it's actually one of the very first things I colored in Photoshop years ago. The original pen and ink drawing is a reproduction of an X-Force comic panel by Tony Daniel and Kevin Conrad. I think the style of wings was first designed by Whilce Portacio though. Eventually I would like to digitally recolor this again when I have a chance.

Once again an older piece this one a reproduction of Witchblade #41 originally designed by Keu Cha. It was drawn with pencils, inked with technical pen then colored with Prismacolor markers & colored pencils.

This is a sketch I worked on over the weekend and finished inking last night. I've had this joke in my head since the summer when I watched a couple episodes of the 1978 Japanese Spider-Man TV series. Although I'm probably the only person that finds it remotely funny. While I don't consider myself a fan of the Power Rangers I do find the Sentai genre sort of fascinating. During the process of drawing this I feel like I developed a respect for the designs of the characters and actually had a lot of fun drawing them as well.

Finally got around to drawing something I was content with for the first time since getting home from the hospital in February. Unfortunate my drawing hand is still partially numb but I am seeing a physical therapist for it and I draw for about two hours three days a week. So whether or not I gain full sensation back I still feel like I can work towards taking commissions and eventually working in illustrator again. This was drawn from looking at two separate photos that appeared in different issues of National Geographic. Unfortunately my scanner isn't working so I had to take a quick photo apologies for the quality.

Finished inking another piece with my partially numb hand. Thought I'd play with stippling given it's looser than inking line work.

Here's another quick fan art piece I did recently on Bristol board inked with Pigma Micron and Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens and then colored with Studio 71 markers, Pentel Color Pens and Prismacolor colored pencils. I've been experimenting with this sort of generic graffiti style and decided to use it to reimagine the 90s animated series logo. It was really fun to make.

Just playing around with some sketches in my brand new black book. These first pages were drawn with Faber-Castell Pitt Artist pen, Pigma Micron pen, gray Reaeon Fineliners pen, and gray Pentel Fine Point color pen. Really happy with how it turned out.
