The 100 Scariest Movie Scenes

Nice. The Thing has many scenes that freaked me out like hell. :(

#99 is funny as hell.

I agree wholeheartedly with number 90.

As a little kid, I couldn't stomach to watch "Dumbo" because those damn pink elephants scared the crap outta me. It was one of my all-time scariest moments of my childhood.

Everytime someone in my house rented "Dumbo", I would cry and beg my mom to not make me watch it. just because of that scene.

I agree about that Dumbo scene. Scared me when I was a kid. Damn you Disney!

That one part where Kurt Russell is checking everyone's blood with the wire then it makes that loud screeching noise when they find who's the alien. That part made me shake my bed lol

Ha ha.. the first time I ever saw that part I think I screamed. :D

Salems Lot.... *tap* tap* "michael," Open the window Michael"

The burning of the Wicker Man was more funny than anything, though not intentionally. The lead character in that movie was such a flake, you couldn't help but smile as he was led to his doom.

I'm really glad that they included Trilodgy of Terror. That Zuni Fetish doll used to scare the bejeezus out of me.

Anyway, great list.

I posted this list awhile ago. Well, retrocrush.com has updated it with some new additions and new rankings. I really don't remember where the movies were ranked, but I do remember the original list had the shower scene from Psycho as #1. Well now there's a new #1. So check it out and pretty much every scene listed has a video clip with it:

I saw this list months ago, I checked out the #1 from Mulholland Drive. Absolutely terrifying, and I didn't even see the rest of the movie.

Lot of good Shining scenes, but they didn't include the guy in the bear suit (unless I missed it). That freaked me out for some reason.

Jump scenes don't scare me,but the stuff that looks disturbing gets me. Because you know it's there, and it ain't going anyplace.

I can't access the link for some reason, but is it the Diner scene from Muholland Drive?

Also is Exorcist III on there?

I haven't seen Mulholland Dr. in years, but I do remember it being pretty frightening and eerie at times, but I can't remember specifically when, where, and how.

So, I'm a little reluctant to watching the youtube clip right now.. :p I think I should just watch the entire movie over again. I don't want to waste a great scary moment by watching it out of it's intended context.

I'm really surprised the opening scene from Scream didn't make the list.

there needs to be another update to include No Country for Old Men. The scene where Bardem makes chitchat with the convenience store owner had me so tense the entire time.

That was more of a satire than anything. They basically went through the cliches of a slasher, so while it got kind of scary, the characters discussing the ins and outs kind of took away from it.

I'm definitely in agreement with number one. I jumped out my seat the first time I saw it.

I cant remember that scene in context to the movie, What was its purpose?

#46 - That creepy looking kid! Salems Lot is arguably IMO the scariest vampire film ever.

The book was still so much better.

I saw Exorcist III in a movie theater opening weekend. That scene caused the loudest audience scream I have ever heard before or since. People were still catching their breath over it like 15 minutes later.

From 4:50 to 8:08. Keep in mind, this came out before the original When a Stranger Calls did.

Don't really know why that didn't make the list.

I felt it was more horrific than comedic personally. It did satire slasher films, but it still was one in itself. It was well done.
