American Dog Fighting 2009 Season

Its about that time again, what's your thoughts on this year's season? I think everyone is wondering if a change in management can help revive Bad Newz Kennels after their miseries last year.

That Boxer from Dover is going to once again prove to be the most overrated one in the show.

As far this year's upcoming draft goes, I really like this pup Killer out of Iowa. Has anyone seen film on him?

I think this pup is a terrific pro prospect. He's incredibly tenacious, and has surreal intangibles. I think he can be a franchise dog.

The Baltimore scene has started to use that "Rabid Dog" offense that seems to be becoming so popular these days.

I hope he knows pictures like this can get him in trouble with management. Its a PR nightmare.

It's just a fad. To me, I much prefer when teams utilize a standard two dog approach and attack right at the jugular.

And I really don't understand what's going on out in Cali with all these dudes spreading their dogs out and running around the other dogs.

Killer's weight has been fluctuating a lot recently, so it'll be interesting to see how he runs at the combine. I wonder if his owners will change his diet to maintain his draft stock.

I think the most interesting match is in Knoxville, Dick and Gracy Lou want to kill each other.

When I look at this year's schedule, the most interesting match has to be the re-match of last year's title game between Princess and T-Bone.

I really think Princess has T-Bone's number, and T-Bone's lack of size has really been a detriment when going against the bigger, stronger dogs from the East Coast. The only way I can see T-Bone winning is if he can get off to a fast start and use his speed to work around Princess's body. To me, T-Bone has the quickest jaw in the entire nation.

I can't help but feel sorry for T-Bone.

He gets a bad rap because he had so much hype starting up. Sure, he's simply a serviceable dog, but he's certainly not just fodder.

Well, you have to remember: he was the #1 pick in the draft three years ago. When he was coming out of the pup system, everyone thought his speed would revolutionize the entire game. But people forget, this is a power sport. And at the end of the day, speed doesn't kill.

I can't think of a single dog who has been a bigger disappointment than T-Bone. If he doesn't get past Princess this year, I really don't see a situation where his owners bring him back.

I think we can all agree we hope there is a real struggle in the final match. The last have been over way too quickly and simply left much to be desired.

Oh, dude, I know.

But I think this year, with so many good pups coming into the league, and with some of the veteran dogs being re-focused after what happened last year, I think this is the beginning of a golden era for the sport.

I think most fan's just hope we don't end up with another Mid West vs. Southeast Match up. Mid Western Dog's just never match up well with the strength of the South.

Well, everyone's been hoping for a West Coast vs. South matchup for a number of years. A lot of the big money guys are in the West and in the South. And if this league is going to continue to flourish in the wake of what happened last year, the West Coast dogs have got to step up.

I mean, look at what happened to Petey last season. This dog is clearly the most talented dog in the entire nation. He has an unrivaled combination of speed, power, and jaw strength. But he continues to play down to the competition, and falls flat against smaller dogs.

If Petey puts together a complete season, and ends up facing somebody like Roxxy from Birmingham in the finals, forget it. That would be a huge money event.

Imagine a West vs. East match up, the place split red and blue? The media would love it.

Oh, that would be crazy.

I know they've been talking about getting some celebrity trainers to come down and work with some of the dogs, but to me that'd be just a publicity stunt. Just get back to old school, smash mouth dogfighting.

Yea, but you have to admit this ain't your father's league. The sport will and must adapt to the times.

But why go away from what has worked in the past? I understand that what happened last year had a negative impact on the sport. But the beauty of the game has always been its raw simplicity: raise the dog, train the dog, get after the dog, and attack.

To start incorporating celebrities, and the hip hop culture, would erode the integrity of the sport. It was bad enough when teams instituted the whole "franchise dog" mentality and started turning these young pups into superstars. I mean, this whole recruiting and breeding thing has gotten ridiculous.

I am not surprised by the increase in more discipline minded trainers after the success New York has had recently.

WTF? This is a real sport? Where do you guys watch it?

Mainly I use the internet. Its always so hard to get into actual events, you have to know the right people it seems, but the internet makes viewing and even betting fairly easy.

I've been breeding some Pugs for battle. They make good fighters in a cute kind of way.

I hope this thread is a joke because dogfighting is disgusting.
