I would wait a few months, as the 2nd batch of 360's will have Blu-Ray abilities as well, according to a Microsoft press release from several months back anyway

You mean HD-DVD & no HD-DVD will NOT be IN the System a SEPERATE DRIVE one where you can CONNECT to the System will let you play HD-DVD will be released. The Playstation 3 will have Blu-Ray & XBOX 360 will have a HD-DVD Drive that you can simply connect to the XBOX 360. It wont be IN the System. At least thats what was said last & at this point I highly doubt ANY 360s will EVER be HD-DVD ready. Unless of course Microsoft will let current 360 owners trade in their Systems they got on release date & after & trade in for a HD-DVD Ready System & if they dont do that & still release HD-DVD ready 360s then that would just give Microsoft alot more PISSED OFF customers.

It will be very interesting to see what happens when the other systems come out.

I wouldn't buy an HD-DVD drive. I wouldn't expect the format to survive more than a year or so anyways.

I think the new Formats wont last at all period. DVDs are still popular & People by now have invested so much in it. I know I wont be switching Formats anytime soon. But since the Playstation 3 will have Blu-Ray there will always be one or Two exceptions with Blu-Ray Movies but I pretty much plan on sticking with DVDs.

Blu-Ray will last. It's superior in every way conceivable, to both DVD9 and HD-DVD. Once player cost goes down, it'll be the only format around.
