The All Encompassing AQUAMAN Movie Thread

I wish they would do that with Leo!

But I'm sensing, if these rumours are true, that they want to see how he's received in JL.

It's likely WB will turn to Leo for the role if they wanted a megastar instead of an unknown or up and comer, and that would be the best thing to do.

He is nowhere near as talented as his brother.

Don't want to see 'Aquabro'

He's making a name for himself with the Hunger Games and other movies. Plus he is the right age for WB to start a franchise off of. I just would love for Gym Jones to get him in Aquaman shape and the costume designer to get him in an unbelievably cool suit that looks like underwater armor/swimsuit complete with fish gils.

before i would have hated the suggestion, but i think he's becoming a better actor.

I don't know, he was TERRIBLE in Paranoia. Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman acted circles around him.

Liam just does not try. Sorry. To me he either has a limited talent, knows it yet still drives forward with his career cuz, well, that's what you do. Or... he really does not realize that he does not have it in himself as of now to be sharing the screen with Dreyfuss, Ford or Oldman. Say what ever you will about his brother, but Chris does have talent as well as charisma and good looks. He tries. Liam coasts on his looks.

I agree. Chris has a likeability and charisma behind him and with Rush he's proved that he can tackle credible and challenging roles.

From what I've seen of Liam he plays the same character and reads his lines in the same way for every performance. Not to sound mean, but if it weren't for his brother, he'd probably still be starring on Australian soaps.

That would be a good role for him.

I think it's a film Leo would star in, given he's an environmentalist. The theme of the film could be about that. People attacking the Atlantean's home, which is a subtle message of the sea suffering at our hands - pollution.

Am I the only one with the cynical thought that WB is only looking at an Aquaman movie, because its similar to a Wonder Woman movie ( mythological-linked superhero, who is a warrior, has fish-out-of-water plot elements, and comes from a hidden city ), but stars a man?

I could see Leo as Ocean Master (the older brother) if Wakefield got the role as Arthur.

I imagine Daniel Craig would be a great Ocean Master and using/hiring Black Manta to kill his brother (Liam) as a the rightful heir to the Atlantis nation. However a good twist at the end would be AQ let Tula or Vulko reign in his place while he has his adventures with the Leauge

I wonder if Chris thinks Liam is a good actor.

I'm sure it's been brought up, but I saw the latest The Hunger Games movie last night, and Sam Claflin sort of has the look for Aquaman.

He was great.

But i'd prefer him for Flash and Jai Courtney for Aquaman.

I can't for all I'm worth see how Jai could suit Arthur. Well, only if they want to take the Fast & Furious route with little to no depth.

But on the other hand, people don't understand my candidates either (Sawa, Gallagher etc).

Here's a pic, by the way. Just cut the hair short (and keep the beard if you want the hero to look more badass), and make the actor hit the gym for a few months.

Sorry but Gallagher and Sawa have to be some of the worst suggestions for Aquaman that I've seen. Washed up teen idols from the 90s should not be cast as a character that already has to prove something to the GA.

But if the pic was of somebody else, a new up-and-coming actor. Would you change your mind then? Or are your thoughts stuck on the fact that Gallagher just happened to be a part of 7th heaven?

His face doesn't scream Aquaman at all. He has nothing going for him. Doesn't look the part, washed up tv actor from the 90s, not even talented enough to lead a film

Seriously there are so many great actors to choose from. Why limit ourselves to washed up 90s tv actors :( the idea of that makes me sad.

David Gallagher as the lead of an epic underwater fantasy. no thanks. Maybe for a tv movie or something ? He doesn't strike me as the swashbuckling heroic king type. At all.

Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig, Nikolaj Coster Waldau, Joel Edgerton, Karl Urban or even Armie Hammer as Aquaman

Sorry but Jai Courtney acts circles around Sawa and Gallagher. Sawa is a former junkie and washed up 90's teen heart throb and Gallagher... I'm not gonna say anything about that one.

With Jai you get an imposing warrior Aquaman akin to the 90's Grant Morrison JLA version or Geoff John's New 52.

With your choices you get a frilly prince who is the butt of all the superfriends jokes.

Isn't there supposed to be a new original cartoon with Aquaman coming up? Hopefully this is true, and hopefully it's good.

Is there a reason why they don't have a new Justice League cartoon...?

They have JL: War coming up as another original movie.

Meh...at this point I not going to get behind any new cartoon that's set on the new 52 and that includes JL: War.

In CH's defense... Those new designs for many characters just look horrible. How can you mess up the Flash's costume? He needed the most minimal of updating and instead it's just "Everybody get's highlights, collars (?) and we are covering up legs... Except for Supergirl, because we will pimp her out as a sexual character what ever chance we get...."

Thanks Krypton Inc.

From what few issues I've read there are a lot of gimmicks in the new 52. There are no more gimmick-y than some others periods, but I have a particular distaste for this round of gimmicks.
