The All New, All Star Batman & Robin Thread!

Just how graphic is the Black Canary / Batman sex-in-the-rain sequence?
I've not read it. Anybody got any links to the scans?
Hopefully Miller has planned a similar sequence with Alfred and Wonderwoman or something. Maybe he could be in the batsuit as a homage to the 60s tv show. Better yet, they could BOTH be dressed up as batman... Miller, I hope you're taking this down.

It's not that bad. Batman just needs one panel to get the job done. Not exactly his best performance. But what do I know, he's the goddamn Batman and I'm just the goddamn Reader.

i think I want to pick up this series just because its soo off the top

Yeah, plus with Lee bringing the Joker into this, I can't wait to see how a ruthless Bats takes on the Joker...

A splash panel at least? I'd have thought at least a fold-out.

This is the first time I can say that I loved Miller's cover.

It's just a shadowy panel with Bats ontop of Canary, with Batman's thought box saying, "We keep the masks on. It's better this way." :woot:

All-Star Batman and Robin

The fan and critical reception to Frank Miller's interpretation of the Batman has been mixed, as the characterization he has employed differs from the mainstream DC continuity version of the major characters. Batman is portrayed as excited by his own sadism towards criminals, musing over the injuries he has inflicted, and his abuse extends even towards innocents: he verbally and physically abuses Dick Grayson in an attempt to prevent him from grieving over his parent's deaths, even slapping the boy in the face. Immediately following this, Batman appears to kill a group of corrupt police officers by landing the Batmobile on top of a pursuing squad car. Later, at the Batcave, he withholds food from Grayson and suggests that the boy catch rats and eat them if he is hungry. [5] Miller's trademark gritty dialogue was thought to have gone over the top when the character introduced himself to Grayson as "the goddamn Batman" - the phrase has gone on become something of a meme among comic book fans for its perceived comedic value [6].
Miller's view of All Star Batman and Robin as a prequel to his graphic novels Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again suggests that the darker, grittier take on Batman and his more dysfunctional relationship with Robin make sense when taken in context. This viewpoint also suggest that Batman's rough treatment of Dick Grayson reveals a lot about the inner workings of Batman's personality.[4] Other DC heroes are in keeping with Miller's continuity: generally much more violent and extreme in their actions, views, and use of profanity (a rarity for many mainstream continuity heroes even today). Aspects of various archetypal personality traits of the various heroes are exaggerated versions of mainline counterparts: Wonder Woman, for instance, is portrayed as outright detesting men, telling a civilian she passes by to get "outta the way, sperm bank" and telling the male members of the proto-Justice League that they disgust her.
IGN has claimed in their review for All Star Batman and Robin #6, that "if you were to play a drinking game every time the phrase 'The Goddamn Batman' came up, you'd be out cold within five minutes". The phrase has been used repeatedly from Issue #1, first used by Vicki Vale.

Sounds like the most awsome badass batman ever!

That doesn't make sense when you compare it to DKR. Wasn't the DKR batman always saying things like, "I'm playing by the NEW rules", even Joker told him off for being too violent and not doing it right by the old way (Batarang to the eye, not caring about a hostage). Since these are all things the All-star Batman would do as well, it kind of weakens that message from DKR. All-star Batman doesn't seem like the type to retire (or even care) if Jason Todd were to die in the line of duty. To me, saying that DKR is a sequel to All Star doesn't fit, especially since Bats makes it clear he's 'changed' etc in DKR. If anything, All-star reads like DKR Batman has travelled back in time to the beginning of his career.

Also, wasn't DKR set in the 80s (Ronald Reagan is the president? Its the middle of the cold war?)?

Out of curiosity, has Miller ever said this was a prequel to DKR?

Go buy a Penthouse, and draw masks on the chicks

Like Greg Land?

Seriously though: Frank Miller sounds like a bit of copout if he's going to pretend All-star is all gritty/pulpy/dark/sexy and then wuss-out when it comes to a sex-scene (especially one he could milk for all its worth). I mean, coming from a man who gave us THIS:

0002eaz3

0002ft6h

Frankly anything less in a SEX SCENE is a cop out.

...

That may be the greatest thing I've ever seen.

Even Lee's detractors have to admit, the dude can draw fine looking women. If I ever get a Genie, I will tell him I want Jim Lee to draw my harem!

I want to see the expression on Jims face when he reads what Miller wrote

You'll have to take wiki up on that, i have no idea.
Nice ass, btw.

Ed: I think they through continuity out window with this and start over.

Mmmmmm, Maybe Frank Miller and Jim lee can do a spin off "All star Vicky Vale and her one fine ass"

oh yes. more shots of her talking ass (is it just me, or does it look like her ass cheeks are talking to each other?).
I'd like to see Jim Lee justify this to his wife when he has to look up source images of 'sexy lady ass' to use as reference in his drawing.

The latest issue was off the walls awesome. Batman is a grade 1 ass hole, and it's awesome :D

Eagerly anticipating Miller's version of The Joker in this.

He slamed BC!!!!

thats gunna make things weird at GA and BC's wedding!!!!

HAHAH!

This book just keeps reminding me of how petty, stupid, demanding, ignorant and insular comic readers can be.

edit - not on this board sorry, I was reading somewhere else.
