Dafoe was a better mentor/ally character in John Wick than his obvious paycheck role in Aquaman.

Dafoe could pull off Gordon, I think. He's not the most obvious choice for the role but he's definitely a phenomenal actor.

I'd originally vetoed Peter Capaldi in my head because you don't get Malcolm Tucker for a role where he just gets to sigh at Bruce's craziness and man the computers. But then I imagined a Bruce/Alfred relationship that's much more contentious and strained this for whatever juicy dramatic reason time around, and that sounds nifty on my end.
