The All New and Improved Batman Reboot Casting Thread

There's some stuff popping up on Twitter, but I can't track down the original source. Some news articles are on Google but they're in Spanish.

As a mexican, I gotta say: Any rumor that comes from a spanish speaking side is complete bogus. A few days ago they were saying Daniel Radcliffe officially signed on to play Wolverine.

Also, I like Culkin and he has the face but he hasn't acted in **** for decades. His latest appearances were in AVGN and RedLetterMedia for god's sake. This is the most ridiculous rumor I've ever seen.

If Culkin is The Joker, could Joe Pesci follow up his return to acting in The Irishman by signing on to play The Penguin?

Culkin is a very, very... very poor mans Leto.

Dude the Macaulay Culkin rumor is so awesome if true!!!! I’ve thought for years he should play Joker or Riddler actually. I think I brought him up when they were casting Joker in Suicide Squad.

... Why would you think that? He hasn't acted seriously in decades.

Macaulay Culkin would honestly be amazing. He just has the perfect energy for it. He naturally feels like Joker even in his interviews.

I think we've finally reached the point where even the most outlandish casting idea seems a stroke of genius, something that the visionary director sees while we common nerds can't even realize that we're witnessing the greatest casting ever done in a comic book movie. And yes, I'm talking about Pattinson , this Culkin-as-The-Joker rumor and lots of other weird choices . The fact that Ledger and Keaton worked doesn't imply that every outside the box choice works .

Are you still salty about Pattinson? My dude, let it go.

Pattinson makes sense, in his age demographic he was practically the best one in terms of acting.
Culkin doesn't have that same advantage. There are FAAAR better actors even in his age range and a bit lower that could play the Joker.

Culkin would have the most resemblance to Joker of any actor that has played the character

To what version? If you were to cast Nicholas Hoult he would look identical to Greg Capullo's Joker. If you were to cast Timothee Chalamet he'd look identical to Gary Frank's Joker. While neither of them is exactly my favorite choice, they are still far better talents than Culkin.
And it's not like looks are everything, Joker is all about reinventing himself and he's famous for being drawn differently constantly. Rami Malek may not look like any existing version of The Joker, but put him in the right makeup? He'll be the Joker.

Looks ain't everything though. If he auditioned and got on Reeves radar I'd trust it. Otherwise im skeptical. Rami malek might be my top pick

Have you seen Party Monster? Youre one of my favorites here for sure but you sound like you’re talking out of your ass. Culkin is awesome!

Evan Peters, Rami Malek, Darren Criss,Rami Malek, Nicholas Hoult, Bill Skarsgard, Timothee Chalamet, Caleb Landry Jones, heck even Taron Egerton are all faar better actors than Culkin and while some of those choices are super unconventional as well they'd be far more interesting.
You can't just give a role that has been played by Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix to an actor that hasn't done serious stuff in ages, regardless of whether or not he was retired.

Dude. He may very well be awesome in that movie, but it's just one movie. You can't give an actor that was good in one movie and has otherwise done nothing but spoofs and shorts, a role as iconic as the Joker and that has a ridiculous amounts of expectations. It'd be a massive downgrade to go from Joaquin Phoenix to Culkin, and especially if he's going against an actor as talented and on the rise as Pattinson.

Let's also not mind the fact that Culkin did that movie back in 2003 and has since then, again, done nothing. There's no reason to think he still has those acting habilities, he has pretty much done nothing to maintain his acting habilities don't go stale or dramatically improve.
