Yeah everything here is generally much later and more expensive. Weird feeling getting something two weeks before the US actually.
Not just something, its Spider-Man. :woot:

Funny that the famous NYC superhero gets to New York last! Almost sacreligous!

Saw this on those box office forums, TWS blew TASM2 out of the park by the looks of it. Or am I reading this wrong?

I am not sure what those numbers represent. Openings, totals so far. I'd need to know that to read it properly.

Oh woops, cut out the essential parts of the post:

As per BOM. More markets opened this weekend. Totals are as of last week.

Are these figures in $ I assume?

Certainly shows a trend of how far Cap has come or how far Spidey has fallen, whichever way you want to look at it.

So how are the numbers going? It's been a day since i checked and i'm too lazy to start looking for the information in the previous pages :oldrazz:. Can anyone update me?

Not too good, but we won't know how bad/good until China and the US happen

When is the film released in China?

Edit: Never mind, i found it. It is released on May 4th.

sadly the film being out 2 weeks before the states will likely effect it, its already online, giffed and stuff so anyone who wanted it to struggle should be happy

Why couldn't they open the movies 1 week before the US (like how marvel/Disney do it)....

There are pirates copies all over the web now.

They maybe wanted the buzz to help, but it seems like it may have backfired. From what I've seen, the movie seems to be well received by the GA, but to many, it will probably be just another superhero movie releasing only ONE MONTH after Captain America, they maybe should have released it later, around summer.

Hell, I don't know, I love Spidey to death so I don't care about Cap America being released a month before, but it seems obvious people are not rushing to see it as I thought they would, the WOM will probably be better than for TASM, so who knows, it might end up catching up.

This will hurt the film I think

Sonys biggest mistake was being way to over ambitious

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: $132M Overseas/Global Total #SpiderMan

In Japan, Amazing Spider-man 2 opened...4th... Ouch.

It might sound silly but whenever you quote somebody like this, it would be nice if you linked it too. Gives the person credit who did this while anyone reading it here can read further if they choose to.

#AmazingSpiderMan2 enjoys $67.2M intl wknd pushing overseas total to $132M ahead of next wknd's launch in US/China/Brazil.

That's decent, but not great. Hopefully, legs are better, and China breaks out (TASM faced TDKR last time, no such competition this time), while domestic does a bit more.

The overseas numbers have been really worrying... China needs to come through for Spidey.

I don't think this film is going to have decent legs going forward.

If Cap 2 is #1 or even better an already out non superhero movie is #1 & TASM2 is #2 or lower next weekend in the U.S. then Sony will still never learn

Honestly in the early days I think I was predicting 900+mil. The numbers are big of course but they are on the low side for a Spidey sequel with IMAX and 3D on it's side. It's going to need legs and China to help it along. But like Pfeiffer I don't expect good enough legs.

there is alot of factors to comic book movies these days and that wasn't there during the raimi spider-man times, all those films had against it was X-Men and a few Comic book movies that didn't go beyond 2 films because they were not doing that great in first place, Batman begins was out but it didn't hit The Dark Knight success untill after SM3, but now we have the MCU and the success of the avengers and 2 movies a year from them aswell as everything WB is doing and i think sony is in a rush to get that audience rather then building it up

i don't blame sony because all they have is Spider-man and the whole weight of the franchise is on him, that one character, marvel,Fox,Wb they all have heaps of characters to explore, but i do think sony could have played abit more relax

and i still say this as someone who likes TASM2

But it had built a strong interest in the general audience, once you start over again and tell them the previous films no longer matter they simply lose interest.
