Yet they could also fire the right people that helped ruined TASM 2. Or at least take away some of the guys in charges rights of butting in & getting control etc. There are steps they can take & give the director freedom without interference to do what he wants. Sony skipping TASM 3 for TSS is just lazy. What if the same problems that happened with TASM 2 happens with TSS all over again ? There wont be any differences. Sony needs to change first before making these movies

i think someone mentioned that from the information about the female spin-off, venom, and the sinister six goddard seems to have some creative control and let's be honest here if son y does indeed interfere with Goddard's work they're screwed and it still doesn't give them a right to mess with webb's third spiderman movie and if they fool around with the female spin-off they're screwed so as a company who really wants to keep the rights to the character so badly to stay in business i'd rather let creators like Drew Goddard, Marc Webb and who ever helms the female movie handle their own thing without interference.

oh yeah, matthew can pull off a great reed richards but i'd like to see what matthew can do in a marvel role and knowing this movie they might cast someone younger. i mean tinkerer in the ultimate universe works with shield and is very young and tinkerer in the spectacular spiderman seems to be in his late forties to early 50s

speaking of criminal minds spencer reid has got to be my favorite character in the show as he's highly intelligent, funny, passionate, full of pride and even has great chemistry with the casts which is another reason i love crimnal minds. every character in that show has great chemistry.

also, speaking of which c thomas howell who was the boston reaper played crane dad which is sad and dissapointing because i believe he would've made a great hobgoblin

Hmm... C. Thomas Howell could've been a good Hobgoblin, you're right.

But I want a Crane Dad: Origins spin-off.

Ugh... as much as I love DeHaan's Harry, just no... this is why they should have waited till after TASM3, so they could introduce Ock.

Unfortunately developing their villains is not their forte. I agree though that Ock should have come in TASM 3, and then it was his idea to make the Sinister Six at the end.

Harry forming the Sinister 6 doesn't even make sense. When he starts forming them, Spidey's gone so what's his motivation? The Sinister 6's whole purpose is to beat Spider-Man yet there was no Spider-Man for Harry to fight...

and yeah, i really don't get harry's motivation for wanting peter dead so soon. like teekay said the original ending didn't have that so adding that makes no sense whatsoever

That was probably just speculation on their part.

Also, while I agree that it makes no sense, I wouldn't take TeeKay's cut into consideration anymore. It's not canon!

But, we're probably going to get some random henchman or Oscorp scientist with no motivation who's given ready made tentacles! (same goes for Vulture and whoever this 6th member of the Six is)

So... a Sinister Six with 0 motivation to kill Spidey other than Dane DeGoblin telling them to kill Spidey just because (or whatever they're forming to do).

I don't think he cares whether or not he's gone or active as Spider-Man.

From his point of view, he just discovered his best friend had the power to give him new life, and chose not to (even though it was for his benefit).

On top of that, the same research could have saved his father. He might be able to heal in his costume, but he could have avoided all of the trouble had Peter given him his blood. Again, speaking from his point of view, of course.

I think that's enough motivation.

I think someone said this best on another board, but I'm not sure if it should be considered as a good or sad thing that when it comes to Spider-Man's current franchise, the BIG thing that that they're building up to is not a union of heroes/generations...but super villains, where most of them are probably characters that an average Audience goer isn't fully aware of.

That definitely is a concern for me as a fan. Hell, I'll enjoy any rendition of a villain, but I worry that the GA won't.

Just look at Joker from DKR. If he was poorly done, nobody would give a damn. He's now iconic and most people from the GA still recognize him as a villain from DKR. I think villains need to either be brilliantly done, as Heath Ledger played Joker, or either have an exceptional backstory.

I never rule out anything either. I think comic book movies are such an interesting part of our culture and have created a subculture of their own. There's so much that can be done with them - one can be a flop, and the next one can be a hit.

The concern you brought up regarding the movie catering to children bothers me as well, at least in regards to S6. Yes, at times TASM and even Raimi's trilogy struggle to find the balance between appareling to young adults and children at the same time, but I sort of expect that.

However, how do they plan on doing this for a movie that will most likely be from the point of view of villains? The fact that Sony deleted a scene with a pretty kickass version of Harry's transformation into Goblin is a huge red flag. If they're going to make a whole film about villains that will ultimately have a showdown with Spider-Man, I hope they're menacing and instill fear in the audience. Because if they can't make them intimidating by their appearance, they usually end up trying to compensate for that with what most people refer to as "cheesy" lines.

I just hate how unnaturally they forced and rushed this whole sinister six movie, as I and others have said here, the natural progression for the story would have been the Goblin/Gwen for part 3 and the series culiminating in part 4 with the sinister six.

We have a similar discussion going on in the TASM2 General Discussion Thread. I mentioned how one of my complaints was Harry's development, and how Dane's acting provided them such a golden opportunity to develop a strong character. I actually feel bad for Dane in that regard.

As a fan of the comics, I knew Gwen was going to die as soon as I found out Emma Stone would be playing her. I just didn't think it would be in the second film of the series. In fact, I thought Sony showing her hanging from Spidey's web in the trailers was a teaser; making us think she dies, when in actuality she doesn't.

Agreed, and I know its been discussed to death, probably one of the worst advertising/marketing campaigns. Nothing good comes from giving away the entire film. I mean they showed the final shot and everything that would have been a surprise in trailers etc. I truly feel that the reaction and response to this movie would have been much more positive had we had NO clue about a Goblin and or Rhino in the film.

Webb said he wanted to keep gwen death and the goblin a secret but oddly it become a big marketing thing where they had to tease her death in every trailer and tv spot

But From what I hear the director has very little say on marketing

Somehow they felt marketing her death like a big event and teasing the sinister 6 would drive this film to make a billion which doesn't really work that way, or at least I don't think it does, it's very forced marketing
