So, The Amazing Spider-Man film series with Andrew Garfield is getting cancelled?

That's been somewhat apparent since the leaks. The majority of the more recent leaked e-mails implied the franchise was rebooting or soft rebooting one way or another. They were even considering a reboot with an older Spidey (and they wanted Ryan Gosling for the part).

I don't think it'll go that far. There's actually been some big developments of late with some of Sony's other films (including Ghostbusters stuff yesterday).

The emails didn't say they wanted Gosling for Spider-Man. They said they wanted him for Sinister Six. I don't think they mentioned which role in particular.

Pretty sure that was after the e-mails confirmed a rumor from some time ago that Sony was looking at making Sinister Six a Spidey and the Sinister Six film. They wanted Gosling for Spider-Man, who would be forced to team up with the S6. He also may have been in the black suit and inadvertently created Venom after changing his costume due to being made fun of.

Sinister Six went through a lot of really weird development changes.

IIRC a mod got sick of CWR telling fans who aren't looking forward to that film to stop posting if they weren't going to see it anyway, but don't quote me on that. (And I think it was just probation)

Spiderman is not gonna get a movie in 2017 unless it is stipulated in the negotiation. MCU has THREE movie out that year. Unless they are scrapping one of them, just no... I'd be shocked if the rights were bought outright and Marvel reboots three years after ASM2. That's not their game.

Do some Civil War reshoots (where are we with filming that by the way? Did they already start?). Give Spidey a cameo or a small role. Give him a bigger role in Avengers Infinity War. To make room for Spidey, you can take one of the Avengers out of commission for a while depending on what happens with AoU and Civil War, to open up some screen time for Spidey. Solo Spidey film in 2020/2021 for PIV.
